I am not sure exactly what people want from such a young lad, I think he has done a lot already and his career is being managed properly making sure he didn't get burned out too much as a young player... we have seen this in the past.
Some of the criticism on here of him as a footballer seems to be based around his wardrobe and that to me make no sense.

It's refreshing to see a young footballer so un-arsed about how he comes across visually, Most of them all dress the same, identikit skinny Jean's, white trabbs, named brands aplenty, gold watches....I like thatTom is very clearly an individual. I wish him the best of luck in this grand team of ours....really hope he grabs his chance this season...if he gets one.

His occasional selection as captain was bizarre, unless the idea of what a captain is supposed to be has changed dramatically. In my view a team captain is a leader on the pitch not a youngster struggling to make the standard required of a PL player. Silva maybe was trying to boost his morale? I don't know why he made him temp captain, especially at Arsenal.
Could very well be the first transgender pro footballer.

He should only be judged on his footballing ability. Regarding his fashion sense...who cares,probably only his parents.
