....it’s all about quality, or lack of quality in Davies’ case. its essential we maintain possession, it’s what the best teams do, especially away from home but Davies struggles to do that. I’m nervous when he has the ball.

No doubt his passing needs to be improve but I don’t want to see him abandon the quick passing just for possession sake, we have enough midfielders with such mindset.

Possession is not the key if we play counter(our deadliest tactics by far). The key is moving the balm forward quickly and allow our forward to make use of their strength. Underhit/overhit passes are more frequent due to the pace of the game but the key is the ability to win back possession and try again.
One example was vs Chelsea. Outstanding tackling with fast football. Perfect counter attacking ingredient that lead to a fantastic result.

...despite what’s said, Leon Osman was brilliant at always taking the ball on the spin in the tightest of areas and turning defence into attack. It looks simple but it’s far from being so. Osman always had that outstanding quality. Davies isn’t that type, he has nowhere near that level of ability.

osman manage to do that at 25. Davies is 20.

All the critics saying what does he offer? Have none of u seen Jordan Henderson, he’s made a career of it and for England too. Tom is still developing and playing under different mangers constantly. We don’t seem to play to our players strengths, we have a talented squad but have 11 players playing diffenrt roles each week. Give Tom a chance guys he’s only 21 and has time to develop into a good player
Henderson is the polar opposite of Davies. Henderson’s a quick, powerful, energetic and hard working player who does his own job well and allows more talented players to shine. The only one of those things that applies to Davies is that he works hard.

I remember going into the pub and telling my mates how good this little fella at Everton was...

Are they still your mates?

Tired legs leads to sloppiness, at times this season he has shone, his forward passing a breath of fresh air. He has been asked to cover a lot of ground and I feel he is suffering for it. Hopefully, we can get reinforcements in Jan and he can go back to a rotation option.

He doesn't work hard, he just jogs back at times. Happened a few times today, and it was highlighted after the derby when the referee overtook him when they were on the attack for a subsequent goal.

Never been a fan and he still hasn't had a 8+ out of 10 game since playing Manchester City in January 2018. It's 2020 in 10 days. He hasn't kicked on one bit and is only playing now because it's an extreme emergency with literally no other option. I'd loan him out for two years and see how he is when he comes back. He has the ability to shine a division down.

I’ve been a massive critic of his, but last few performances have been ok, he was asked to play out on the right after Iwobi went off and did little, obviously not his position, looked tired as well today along with DCL.

I don't think he'd get a start at any other premier league club. He's that bad. Apologies because he's a 'local lad' and some people are offended that we can voice an honest opinion on one of our own.

Imagine Davies playing for Ancelotti for any other club, it would be madness.

Decent lad , local, good blue, not good enough to play at the level we aspire to be
