*shakes head sadly

This is why he's got away with being so bad for so long.
Needs more of that performance and not the dirge he showed last week. Gotta be consistent else there isn't a place at the club for him

I've always been a fanboy. (Full disclosure: the Mrs. bought me a kit this year with Davies name/number on it. Feel free to abuse me. She now wishes she'd picked DCL so to make up for it, when we got a bearded dragon a couple of months ago we named him Dominic).

Thought he was bad when he first came on. Grew into the game, especially after Mina came on as others have said. Had a couple of very nice dribbles at the end there.

Consistency is a problem with our mids generally, right? Iwobi, Bernard, Davies, Sig, Iwobi have all run hot and cold. Gomes has just been poor. Gordon has earned a spot. For the rest of the season, some of these guys have to step up and grab the opportunity.

seems to like the inside right position where he can use the wingers outside him to buy himself some space.

He seems to have at the heart of the midfield today, which I must say I thought was odd, as it's a critical position and he doesn't look after the ball well. But in fairness he did the job very well today. Maybe Ancelotti got lucky, or maybe he sees something in him?

What I liked about Davies today, was he started off doing the simple things at first. Played a few passes first time forward, rather than holding the ball. That got him into the game and allowed him to then take advantage a bit later on with a couple of really good runs in the right area.

He needs consistency though. There's no point in us having the discussion in 2-3 games going he's good one week poor the next. Either way though, he did well today and helped us get some control in the game.

His first action was to give the ball away.

Wtf.

Gomes is a disappointment. I am sure he has talent if he can be played in a position which suits him, Up to Carlo to sort him out.

I'm giving him some benefit of the doubt due to his injury and fitness. I can't believe he's 100% yet. Most of these guys are laboring, they've not been playing for three months. He looks especially poor.

I'll reserve judgment til next season. Unfortunately he's needed now.
