Weve got DCL / Holgate who finally turned a corner between 22/23.

Alot of posters were here slating them every day of the week and yet they would have been in the last England squad.

In fact if Holgate was made Everton captain and DCL vice captain i dont think there would be too many complaints.

Davies has just turned 21. Hes 2 seasons behind those two players.

If were aiming for 2 players per position then we have 4 centre mids needed. Id say lets keep Davies as a 5th choice and see what happens with him.

A switch could be flicked...or not but in any case i imagine Ancelotti would be wondering the same as all of us.

Should he stay or go? Who knows lol
Huge difference in situations
One, Holgate has still played 40 less games than Davies. Amd has shown massive improvement unlike Davies. Also I think CB is probably the hardest position on the pitch to breakthrough as a young player.

DCL has shown improvement every season, we seen some great performances from him last season and the season before, but he was missing chances, he still is the header against Norwich was a poor finish, but he’s improved his finishing. But if in 2yrs he’s still getting 13/15 goals a season and still missing Good chances. There’s a good chance he will be moved on.

4 yrs and a 100 games, Davies hasn’t improved one bit. Anyone who really thinks Davies is coming Good is living in the clouds. Or you’re one of those fans that would rather us be mid table every season, as long as youngsters keep getting chances.

Not sure about that buddy. I think only Lukaku has reached that from open play in the last decade for us.

He's got over 100 appearances Zatty you weirdly age-obsessed man

So many examples of players coming good at his age or later

Davies hasn’t just turned 21, he’s actually 22 tomorrow.

lol fair play in that case hes 12months behind DCL/Holgate.

I honestly couldnt care less if Davies is kept or sold.

He seems like an average player coming into the team with no real outstanding qualities.

Doesnt really strike me as the type to be a dedicated professional who spends all waking hours honing his skills -- but then again i dont know him.

Team spirit cant be overestimated and does play a role in whether squad players stay while the team is developing. Weve seen that at United under Ferguson who had squad players that would later go on to reach the dizzy heights of sunderland football club and also ourselves :o

So my thinking is that Ancelotti may want him around the squad for another season as a backup player. I think its unlikely that we would loan him.

My guess is that he stays a year but if a fee came in of say £10mil+ we would probably cash in. I imagine Kenny is similar and for a half decent fee we will also cash in on him.

A couple of simple questions you should ask yourself when you think about Tom Davies.

Would you want Harry Winks in Everton's midfield?

Would you want Lewis Cook in Everton's midfield?

I'm going to guess the answer to both of those is a massive fat no.

So why should we persist with Tom Davies in midfield.
Harsh on Winks. I'd have him in our current midfield. Around Gomes' level.

Think a loan would be great for him needs to start every week get games look at difference to holgate it has made and give him confidence to push on
