'...I honestly think Mo Besic is twice the player he is...'
I’m serious. A traffic cone could’ve been in our midfield last year but I do think if he was here he’d have been in straight away. Also if he wasn’t made out of cheese he’d be an established player here years ago or at the very least we’d have made a very good profit off of him.wait, what...
yeah, you did say that...riiiiiiight.
Carlo likes him. He's staying.
A more effective midfield involves him not being it, vicious circle.Davies could thrive with a more effective midfield...
IF we can get rid of even half of the players mentioned further up, I'd not be against keeping him as a substitute. Would be at the lower end of wages compared to the above, has more chance of improving than the above but realistically, should be nowhere near a competitive starting 11.Our midfield needed better quality & fresh faces this was quite evident...
however my point is that Davies will still have a vital role this season as a squad player...
We will still require a strong squad & be reliant on all the players this season irrespective of big signings & star players...
I think there’s been a change in direction this year. We’ve Already let a few younger players go. I think that if reasonable offers come in, they’ll be gone. Why can’t some accept when an academy player just isn’t good enough? We always seem to keep them far too long, everyone knew Dowell and Garbutt wouldn’t make it here years ago but we just got rid now, we still have Pennington on the books and we’re doing the same thing with Davies now.
If we sell him now we can at least sell the “potential” it’s how all clubs sell their young players who aren’t good enough, for some reason we don’t.
He’s got 3 years left on his deal if he’s not sold this summer and goes out on loan to the Championship and doesn’t impress greatly then we’re stuck with a player who’s not “young”, has no “potential” and didn’t look out of place in the second division, his value astronomically crashes. We could get some fool of a team to pay £10m+ this summer or we could wait and it’ll be £5m or less next year.
I honestly think Mo Besic is twice the player he is and would much rather have him in the squad and we’ve been actively trying to get rid of Besic for years. Objectively one of the worst players to play over 100 PL games for us in 20 years and is literally our 6th or 7th best central midfielder now with Allan and Doucoure.
Guaranteed we’ll keep him and Kenny on the books for another 2 years until they both leave for buttons when at this point they could drum up £25m for our budget and pure FFP profit.
You mean like the Newcastle match where he cost us the game, the point of a sub is to either change a game for the better or be steady enough to see a game out, he does neitherI wouldn’t sell Davies me. Home grown, English and still only young with little wages in comparison to the other players.
In terms of squad rotation he’s good enough to come off the bench in games we’re we need fresh legs in the midfield, and the most likely not to kick off with less playing time.
On the other hand selling the likes of Delph, Siggurdson and Besic will financially make more sense.
If , massive if , he could get fees for all of them I'd be delighted to get £50-60 million for the lot.If Brands can get all of those out the door we should name the new stadium after him.

Coming of the bench in the championship would suit him.I wouldn’t sell Davies me. Home grown, English and still only young with little wages in comparison to the other players.

The home grown and English argument is total rubbishI wouldn’t sell Davies me. Home grown, English and still only young with little wages in comparison to the other players.

as if someone is going to give up a curly wurly for Sandro, on a different planet you are lid.If , massive if , he could get fees for all of them I'd be delighted to get £50-60 million for the lot.
£10m each perhaps for Iceland , Walcott , Bernard. Maybe just maybe £5m for Delph and Bolasie and a curly wurly for Sandro and Besic.
