Or, the deluded expectations of fans that think they’re good enough sets them up to fail.

DCL scores goals v Lower League opposition consistently, yet struggles against Premier League teams; if that isn’t an indication of him not being good enough at this level then I don’t know what could be clearer.

Ross isn’t our player anymore, but he never lived up to the early hype piled on him by everyone who again thought he was brilliant.

Davies hasn’t been in the squad for weeks, even though we are short in CM. Came in last night and set them up for their best chance.

JJK deserved the loan he got to try and improve, but he hasn’t showed anything previously of a player to help us get to where we want to be.

Dowell is another one who excelled in the Championship against the opposition he should be playing against.

It’s people like you that are hurting these lads by thinking they’re more than what they are.
 
This was all so obvious.

When Tom first come into the team, Ross was getting stick and "he should bemore like Davies". It was so obvious that the moment Davies has a drop, the same fans will be on his back, as they was with Ross....rinse and repeat.

Ross was too weak minded, and thick....Tom Davies cares too much about skateboards.....what next ??? Jonjoe waves his fist too much and should concentrate on his feet ??!!

Idiotic fans hitting out at young rich lads, out of pure jealousy & frustration about their own lives.

Think it was more frustration with Ross because you could see he had the talent to be unreal, the others mentioned are just substandard players

Most people are jealous of footballers, doesn’t matter how old they are.

If you think rationally rather than getting emotional about it like all the Davies fans do - how many teams in the League does he play for? He definitely doesn’t get into any of them above where we finished last season, which is where we want to be.

It’s the same for all the youngsters.

Deluded expectation ?? Thats the boo morons, fuming that Davies is not Pirlo / Ballack / Dunga all mrged into one.

Being a good / decent player at 19/20 IS good enough for us. We are not a CL Elite club, so why do fans act like we SHOULD have messy level players all over the pitch!!

Ross was superb for us at times....yet not good enough. Davies even hailed as better by the ones now that hate him.

DCL is struggling just as much as Kean is.....

Fans even bood Holgate last night while 2 up....just because he played back to keeper. Strange!!!

Fans all over the country are laughing at us...the way we boo and treat our own players.

It’s easy to blame the fans for player mediocrity, it really is; but the evidence is there in front of you when you watch the games.

We have a lot of players that aren’t good enough and unfortunately all the players you’ve mentioned fall into that category. They’ve all had long enough to prove themselves as well, it’s not like they’ve only played 5 or 10 games for us.

Agree on Barkley, the idea that someone with 30 odd England caps at 25 and playing for a top 4 team has failed is a bit weird to tell the truth. I just don't think the others are/have been that good though. Dowell has failed to properly shine on loan in the Championship and none of our managers have ever seen fit to give him PL games, suggesting it's the fans causing him a problem is a bit strange.

Not knocking Davies because I didn't see the game but just talking generally. It's only September, it's not like he's been sat there not kicking a ball for months. He had a full pre-season and has played a couple of international under 21 games, he will have been in as good a condition as anyone at this stage of this season really.

I don't condone booing one bit but with all the players you have mentioned they have regressed rather than progressed. All showed excellent promise initially but with honesty none have actually got better and if truth be told have got worse. That is the most frustrating part and when we witness this the frustration grows in the stands and becomes audible which cannot help the player but there are players that can get through it. Unfortunately none of the players you mentioned.

I agree

But he didn't even have a passable game either and he didn't play better than or even on par with the incumbent player in that position

He had a below average game and didn't look good in any way, and I'm always one of the first to defend the younger lads when they get a game

Holgate wasn't perfect ever, but he was at least reasonable and did his job for the most part

Wonder why they have got worse!?!

Maybe the whole team has got worse, all the manager changing we do, fans booing, the expectation etc.

Do you really think any young players improve in that kind of toxic mess of a set up???!
