Should always play in a midfield 3, long term ideally alongside Gbamin and someone else who is creative, either Gylfi or Iwobi. Ideal box to box midfielder really.

Not having a go at Tom here but was a bit embarrassed to read a thread on twitter earlier talking about his pass to Walcott. It was a well executed pass and he couldn’t have done any more (which is why I stress I’m not having a go at him) but there was absolutely nothing special about it at all, and people were raving. Just shows how bad we’ve been for the last few years that playing a decent pass into 20 yards of space is seen as a great bit of play.

Maybe it wasn't special but very few Everton midfielders have been making even basic forward passes so seeing someone play an incisive one is a bit exciting

Thank you for rewording my post without changing the meaning of it at all, I appreciate it. Hopefully it will help the rest of our American brethren to understand what appeared to be a simple point.

Or his overall performance for the third game running he’s been our best midfielder

Played well last night did the youngster. Played some lovely little balls and simple when needed.
I've been his biggest critic but long may it continue

Yes credit where credits due. He was our best midfielder last night and was good in the West Ham game too.

Hope he can handle the pressure now we are down to the bare bones in midfield.

I misread it lol. I thought you were being negative and you weren't. Apologies.

What do you mean or? The thread wasn’t about his overall performance, I thought I made that clear when I said it was ‘a thread...about his pass to walcott’.

Honestly a bit weird that I’ve had 2 replies as if I’d said he was rubbish when I actually went out of my way to point out I was bemoaning the teams recent performances rather than the player himself.

Also anyone who thinks he was better than Gomes against West Ham. Wow.

He did play a very nice ball in the first half to Theo as well. Say what you want about Tom, but he does have a decent long ball on him and he isn’t afraid to use it. As you said some of our players can’t even do that.

I think he is showing a lot of maturity this season, he looks better than Schneiderlin anyway, not hard like but Toms doing well, looks like the break from the first XI paid off.
