I praised Tom after last night. His best performance I wouid say and fair does to him.

But I guarantee the majority off fans felt the same way as me. The only difference was some wanted to give him more time. But let’s also remember he’s played the equivalent of 3 full seasons and has finally put 3/4 very good performances together on the bounce

But I would hang fire on the I told you so post, until he’s had 50 performances like this in his next 70 games. Then we will know who was right and who was wrong.

he’s still got a long way to go.

I’m sure if I pop over to the Coleman thread , you will be shouting from the roof tops that he should play right wing for the remainder of this season.

So if he doesn't deliver arguably MOM performances in just over 70% of games and consistently outperform some of the leagues best players every game over the next season and half he's a write off?

Don't ask for much do you?

he is disliked by sexually oppressed middle aged men who have a fetish for shouting at young boys and being first to write players off as they have no authority or erections left in their life. it is sad but the tom kid seems to have guts about him. he is ten times the man of his haters.

He would fold them all with one nonchalant flick of his left hand while holding his blessed skateboard in his right. And then spend the cold evening handing out blankets and other such necessities to the homeless.

Praise Saint Tom.

I'll be honest here. I thought my frustration with him stemmed from not performing on the pitch. I'd never once linked my brewers droop and his unsettling boyish appearance to my rage.

Gadzooks!

Delighted for him with his recent improvement in form. I think a lot of it is down to a confidence thing with him.
I think also that he has been adversely affected by being coached/ managed by a couple of absolute losers , prior to Carlo's arrival.
That has probably stalled his development more than anything. Keep it up la !
I agree with this 100%. When he fist broke in he was a really good intelligent player.
For some reason it wasn’t happening for him anymore. I knew there was a decent player in there.
Confidence is the most important ingredient for a good footballer and being on his case doesn’t help.
I admit I’ve been guilty of it at times and too many different managers does not help either.

The little clip of him touching the tunnel and kissing his badge before he came out was class.

Love all that, even as little as it is.

Think that's why local lads like tom get a lot more time because they have a genuine love for the club, slates him massively at times but he's been a lot better in the last couple of games

If the lad was not playing well theres nothing wrong with saying hes not playing well.

Also when he plays well there nothing wrong with changing your opinion and saying yes hes playing great.

at the start of the season i thought he was terrible, not tracking runners misplaced passes etc.

But in the last couple of games ive openly said i thought he was man of the match

People are allowed to change their opinion

Depends what we want as a team and a club, if we want to win things then yes, I’d say 7 x 8 out of 10 performances every 10 games is not a lot to ask.

And who’s these best players he’s out performing? Let’s have it right for 30 mins Spurs gave us the run around and created more chances than us over the 120 mins.

He’s looked great recently because he’s gone from regular 4/5 out of 10 performances to a few 8’s

I think he can benefit from good coaching. He's not slow and seems to have a good engine. His physical fitness seems to be strong. He's staying on his feet more, other than one horrendous lunge in extra time when he lost the ball. His passing range isn't great, and he tends to play the obvious ball, which can be intercepted. He's certainly worth a squad place at the moment, but the fact he's making man of the match performances shows that we are a level below where we want to be at the moment. Medium to long term he either needs to work in his tackling if he wants to be our DMC, or his passing range and shooting if he wants to play further up the pitch.

My point about outperforming the best isn't about the Spurs game.

My point is related to what you ask of him. If he puts in 8/10 performances 70% of the time then he would be comfortably outperforming pretty much every player in the league. That's quite a high bar to set.

Wrong IMO because a Kevin de Bruyne 6 is better than a Tom Davies 8. World class players are still better that good players or very good players.

Another example of trusting the manager/club/coaching team.

We should all just stop with extreme opinion statements we like to be heard/seen making.

Leave it to the pro's and stick to the box backing/van driving/wall building that we all do daily....

Dont know if you guys have noticed but there has been a recent mentality change from our players to trust him with the ball.

In the past there have been moments where our more 'talented ' players would look for other options. Maybe they weren't always confident in his ability in tight situations but I've noticed that players look for him now as a safe option.

Not sure if just me
