Sorry I had to laugh. If doesn’t kick on next season or the one after lol. By that time he will be approaching 25. Been around the first
Team 8 years. Will most likely by then have played 200 Games. And still not be a regular.

He’s had enough chances and plenty of games. I just don’t see what you do.

We will sign a midfielder this summer. And Davies will be 4th choice at best, maybe 5th if Gbamin gets fit. I think it time to move him on a give another midfielder from the academy his spot. And use his transfer fee. To help build a better team.

Do you think Davies wouid have lasted this long at Arsenal or Spurs or even Liverpool( I know they’re in a different league at the minute to us) but surely that where we want to go.

Laugh all you want, I never write a player off shy of there 24th birthday. Whose to say he won't kick on and with better players around him won't be as poor.

It's not about Arsenal or Spurs they've been operating in Europe, we haven't. I haven't advocated him to be a starter but as a squad player he has been fine, he has improved this season and if he can stick to being a six and learn the position, there is still hope.

I would 100% give an academy player his spot, IF they're good enough to replace him!

Even if you want to tag him as a holding midfielder how the hell are Everton supposed to progress with that.

Against City I thought he was absolutely awful.

He runs and works hard, that was helpful when we had that CM crisis mid season when everyone were injured but he is an awful passer of the ball and doesn't read the game too well. Not a first XI player in any way for me.

I'd keep Davies as ideally the 7th midfielder. Not someone you rely on but someone who can come in and do a job maybe 10-12 appearances a season without rocking the boat. He will never be good enough to be a regular starter but Man City and Chelsea apart who has 2 players in every position that are top quality.

Wouldn’t we be better giving that spot to Onyango or price. What’s the point of having an academy if a 23yr old bit part player is going to block their path.

I agree in part, but they are both still teenagers with a lot to learn. Davies probably started the season just gone 7th but due to perma crocks Gbamin and Delph, lengthy lay offs for Allan and Doucoure and poor form from Gomes he got a lot of games. In a couple of years time I would be hoping one of Onyango or Price are ready for this but not next season.

I wouldnt lose any sleep if we binned them all.
Id keep allan and doucoure. and take the risk of to many new players but id plough into that midfield. Just not enough players with any guile. Its all foot in.

You don't think coaches who train them everyday know if they're good enough or not?

We don't have European football, players like Davies will always make up the squad until we get better and can have better quality through the squad. He's still a young lad and can still get better.

But we’d probably have European football next season if our back up midfielders like Davies, to Doucoure & Allan. Were better players. You’ve lost your own argument.

I’d rather have 4 very good midfielders and 2 kids as back up. If you get injuries so be it.

Than 2 very good ones and 5 average ones as back up all earning big money.

£110m whammo in the pocket without weakening the team. £100m on top and we're at the disco and everyone is looking at our moves and wondering how we fit into THOSE jeans

I think £15mil for Davies and £35mil+ for Kean in isolation are good deals.

Then we can move onto Iwobi, Bernard, Kenny, Keane, Gomes, Delph and the other dross...

All adds up.

Of course in an ideal world we get rid of our crap first. But you have to take every transfer in isolation. And IMO it’s an easy sell if someone offers 15mil for Davies.

If we are stuck with iwobi for another season so be it. But that’s not a reason for keeping Davies
