I quite like Tommy D as a low cost squad filler, while he will never be a first choice player, he is ok for injury cover, or to come on in the last 20 minutes to shore up the midfield. If, however, we really could get 10 to 15 million for him, it should be mediately accepted.

Davies injured a knee back in November and his comeback was put on ice in January when the 23-year-old damaged a hamstring in training.

The graduate from Everton’s Academy, who has played 159 times since a debut in April 2016, was limited to eight appearances and only four starts across the campaign.

You want players who care as much as we do about the club, but to be honest I don't think you'd want me to come on as 5th or even 6th choice. Even if I'd play for a scouse pie and a pint each week. (And I would!)

He's no worse than the likes of Allan, Gomes and Doucoure and is on a significantly smaller wage. Once we've shipped those 3 out and got better replacements, maybe then we can look at replacing Davies.

If Lampard genuinely thinks he can get something out of him then maybe we should let him try?

I don't know

Lampard doesn't strike me as someone who would keep a player around that he doesn't see anything in just for sentimental reasons

Maybe I'm wrong and there are examples of him doing that, but I can't see him doing that when his reputation is on the line

The main focus in the short term has to be shipping out the players who are on big salaries and potentially could get buyers. Some clubs may still rate Doucoure and Allan based on their overall careers.

Davies will be on relatively low wages and I doubt there's a big market out there for him as he's been injured all season.

Allan yes because of his age and a year left in his contract. There is no way we will sell Doucoure. Will you give Davies a new contract? His contract will expire next year and you know he will struggle in the Championship.

Doucoure was sharp early in the season but lost it later on though he continued to get picked. Allan I never rated much.

If we are ever to move on we need to get rid of players like Davies who is not PL standard. Somebody in the Championship might fork out 5 mill for him although I doubt it.
