I hope he recovers quickly. There is definitely room in this side now for someone who can pass a ball. He will need to bulk up a bit to play in the DM role - maybe get some Klipperty juice or ask that Traore guy to share....

Still think he would be best used to a DM anchor role. Has the energy, can tackle and keep things simple.

Something like a rotation option in the squad.

However, if we got a £10mil ish offer for him id sell.

We’ve missed him this season

I’ve been one of his biggest backers here but he’s been pretty bad.

He missed the penalty at QPR but imo we lost that game mostly because he and Gomes were shockingly poor in midfield. There were other reasons, like the corpse of Charlie Austin bullying our CBs, but that sticks out.

As does his whiff at the death at Old Trafford. That might have been the high water mark of the season- we had drawn level on that fantastic counter goal by Townsend, and were better value for the win in the second half. If he’d simply put it on frame he probably scores and we come out of there with three points and absolutely flying. Instead he craps the bed by putting that pass on to Mina who is already offside.

Watford game he scores early and it was a great goal, terrific effort to get forward with commitment, then was rancid when Watford were carpet bombing us, he had a hand in most of their goals.

Carlo was getting something out of him as a 6. We could use that, we have plenty of attacking mids now. Could be useful when (if) he gets healthy. But he’s got to be better.
