Surely if he's serious about his football he should be getting into a new club early on in pre-season to make an impression and get to know his new team mates.

The fact that he hasn't done that speaks volumes to be about his desire to actually play football. He saw for the past at least four years that he wasn't going to be a frequent starter for us, yet happily sat on his huge salary instead of trying to forge a career at a different club.

He only wants the money. He doesn't want to actually have to play football for it.

This makes no sense. He turned down a contract from us. He could have taken his premier league salary and not played for us and he wouldn't have to travel/move etc.

Maybe we offered him a fraction of his previous salary and he's earning more than what was offered on his side projects / modelling, etc? Could very well be the case. The club is hardly going to offer it's 6th choice central midfielder a contract on the same terms as when he was seen as the next big thing.

He was one of the lower paid at Everton, about 30 grand?, a couple at Swansea on around 20 but most earn between 3 and 12 grand a week
