I'll pop more tomorrow when I have a moment. However as I put after the Southampton game I was very impressed with him and not surprised he has excelled today. Sometimes a young player steps onto the pitch and rather than looking nervous they look calm and like they belong. Thats how he looked against Southampton, like it was his stage and he was waiting for the moment to come.

In terms of style and I will say this cautiously as it's still early days but the lads could be the midfield player we hoped Ross Barkley would be. I think Ross could well go onto to be a world class midfielder. I am doubtful as to what his position is and worry if he will ever be a number 8. Davies will be a natural number 8 for us and will be able to do a bit of everything. He is going to be a big lad, strong, good in the tackle, skilful and will chip in with goals. Of the other talented midfielders we have, Dowell, Ledson, Walsh & Williams, Davies has a bit of all of them in him and is our most rounded option.

With young players so much is whats in their head. Most of them are good players if not a little physically behind. From the moment I saw him against Southampton I knew he would excel, he was calm. I did contrast this to Connolly. Connolly may well make it too, he is in no way an inferior player, but he may take a little longer as he looked a bit more nervous.

I hope he's part of the first team squad next summer and am very excited about him. 17 as well!

Think we kinda need to realise that even I would shine against that Norwich midfield.

A good strong performance from the boy, 17 years old and at no point looked out of place, but wont be surprised if we dont see much of him for a year or 2.

That's not the lad's fault. Everything he did today, he did far better than Barkley has done for a good while...And as for the tackling & pressing - Ever!

He was totally unfazed by the occasion, and alert to everything. He knew where the ball was gonna end up, and made damn sure he was there first, whereas 'the maestro' would've stood there like one in Lewis's with his thumb up his 'arris.

There was nowt to suggest to me that he wouldn't be capable of the same against higher-class opposition.

Did everything Barkley won't do. Norwich would've had a lot more possession in the middle had Barkley started instead of him

Lad looks the part. Definitely wiser, stronger & more savvy than his years. I'd like to see more of him next season.
Would have been nice to see more of him this season!
