Best? Maybe not. Most important? Very possibly. They aren't always the same thing. Rom is our best player because on his day, very few in the world can do what he does. But Davies is making us tick. He's making Ross better, and everyone around him.

Gueye is good but his best attributes are founded in his play without the ball. We need both types of player just not sure there is room for them both to start assume schneidrlin will be first choice due to fee & previous relationship with manager.

Be interesting to see how this plays out obviously against the teams above us we should probably start with yesterday's team as we won't have the ball

This part is what i think has made a big difference to our play. For seasons we have had midfielders who have played the ball off and then just stood where they passed from or pointed at the next man to shift the ball onto. Davies is making so much more space for everyone else by actually moving off the ball and making himself available for everyone on the pitch. Its something that I have also noticed with Walsh for the U23s as soon as he has passed it he is making his way forward and available again. At the moment I think that he has to have one of the midfield shirts, alongside Schneiderlin and its up to the others to fight it out for the other place next to them, which is harsh on Gana since he was our best player pre AFCON but great for getting better performances from the players with the competition for places.

Agree this is were Koeman needs to earn his money & get the balance right Davies seems to offer us a better balance than Gana & schneidrlin although let's be fair neither are fully fit yet. Interesting times been a long time coming having such options.
