hope we don't build him up as if he's the best talent since Rooney. Give the lad some gametime but let's not treat him like a messiah and ruin his head.

He's been a startling revelation for us , all be it in only a couple of games at 1st team level. For Emgland u17s / 18s he looked a very sound DFM, his move last season to the u21 alongside Joe Williams seemed to confirm steady progress, then Unsy played him further forward against Norwich and his additional energy and talent started to emerge. Still early days and needs careful handling particularly re overhyping him but he's certainly now at the forefront of our Golden Generation. Let's see what he does in the rest of the pre-season ......and beyond.

I don't know about you mate, but what I noticed about Tom was how hard he worked on his physique. He started covering every blade of grass and really bulked up. That was a big difference for him and in the under 21's match against Liverpool we beat them in he was fantastic and ran the game.

I think Unsworth has been very good for him and really modelled him on the old dogs of war midfielders we had and that has really benefitted him, as has probably working with John Ebbrell (who was always a good midfielder who probably lacked Tom's physique).

I watched extended highlights of that game and agree Davies did play well, back helping to clear from under the bar, and threading his way through the Liverpool defence to set up Dowell for a right foot goal are the bits I remember. He certainly gets further forward more often than Williams or Ledson and covers a lot of ground.( The other bits I remember were the sheer pace of Anthony Evans going forward and Connolly out jumping their defence to score!)
 
Looking good today again at right back. Is that where Koeman wants to play him or can we expect him to get some significant minutes this season in the middle?

He is boss. Love how nothing overwhelms him on the pitch and how he seems up for a laugh off it.

He'll keep his feet on the ground and he will be a big player for us in the future. The one I'm most excited about from the academy.
