Tom Davies

Putting things into perspective , Tom is 18 and will undoubtedly get a lot better and stronger. Whatever we think about that crap performance last night , the responsibility for turning it around doesn't rest on his shoulders, that's the manager and the senior players , some of whom were an embarrassment.
Cleverly and Barry have the experience but lack the collective energy and pace between them to stop a decent team. And that's something that Tom Davies brings, energy and pace to the midfield to make up for his lack of experience at this level. We sadly missed the energy of Gueye , and on his return I'm not sure I'd link him and Davies together from the start, I'd prefer Davies to be alongside someone more experienced like Barry if he was to start. My biggest worry is that the likes of Cleverly or, shudder , Gibson get selected ahead of him.

This is where Koeman and his coaching team earn their money. Davies is an inexperienced but tremendous prospect, he needs to be supported and coached to be able to deliver sound performances at PL level, nothing fancy just good defensive midfield play he has shown in his youth career for us and England.

It could be that he's not good enough yet. Shocking idea I know.

He's acquitted himself well every time he's been given a chance. The only way for him to improve is for giving him more time on the pitch, which I think there's a case for given the potential he's shown so far and the shiteness of the other alternatives. Doesn't mean starting and 90 mins every game but he could be given more minutes.

Definitely deserves a start against Swansea, given the poor form they've been in, the fact we're at home, and the fact that Cleverley has done absolutely nothing to deserve a start ahead of him. Literally no reason not to play him.

One thing worried me yesterday about davies. that is contrary to what you have said was his distinct lack of pace. have always been impressed when he came on but one occasion yday he lost the ball and was running in treacle trying to get back. tell me if i m wrong if you ve watched him often but for me he s going to have to be excellent to survive without that vital ingrediant !

Slower than who that is currently playing?
He's a proper footballer so fact he's not fast enough for you will not be an issue in the middle of the park.

How can you not be good enough to replace Thomas Cleverley? How, it's literally impossible.

Cleverley has been rated as good enough to play a part under several Premier League managers. I find it difficult to believe that they're all wrong and football fans who haven't managed in their lives know better.

The Clev is 27 and no one has seen fit to actually spent money on him ever.
