Hang on, Koeman is being slated for bringing Calvert-Lewin on last night?

But yeh, Davies should be in the squad. It's ridiculous now.

Hopefully if there's one positive from Macca's injury, it's that it forces Ron's hand.

Do you deliberately spin everything just to be contrarian?

People are criticising Calvert-Lewin being brought on out of position, not just that he was brought on, and indeed no criticism whatsoever of his age or experience.

Nailed on that Davies will not be starting against Leicester - it will be either Barry or The Clev. Its all very well saying that Davies should be starting but Koeman doesnt seem to think he is ready yet. Lets be honest we are basing wanting to see more of him on a cameo against Soton and his full debut against an already relegated Norwich last season, which is no barometer at all really. Koeman had a good look at him in pre season and has him training with the first team every day. He has also had him in most squads. Would be more concerned about lack of minutes if none of the other youngsters weren't getting any game time but thats not the case. One of the things Koeman said was that he doesn't want to parachute young players in for the odd game, he wants them to play when they are ready and let them have a run. Its what he did with Holgate and what he is doing with DCL and what I expect him to do with Davies. Davies will get a chance when Koeman thinks its the right time.

Was Koeman watching Barry's performance? Not sure how he could think it's not the right time. Especially against Leicester, who have a simple, guileless strategy.

Not to get off topic, but never thought I'd read this

I'm not deliberately contrarian though - I just say as I see. For example, I've got stick as a lone voice on Lukaku for years in terms of his negative impact on our play, yet now it seems the majority think the same way. Same with when we signed James McCarthy - I got stick when he got off to a good start, yet for two straight seasons he was exactly the player I said I feared he was after that. Same with Bolasie etc. etc.

There's always a logic behind what I say, whether people want to admit it or not.

I agree with this but Barry and Cleverley add nothing to the game offensively for me . Moreover Barry is incapable of playing the game the way Koeman says he wants it played it just isn't his style. Let's give Davies a go.

I'm not spinning anything, he has been slated for it. Rightly so IMO, it was a silly sub.

Hes mostly being slated as he brought him on out of position...secondly because there were others in that position who would have been suitable.

I dont think anyone would be disappointed if he played up front.

As you seem to keep ignoring though I do believe it was the plan - like in how it worked against Arsenal.

But it was the wrong time of the game to do it and almost reminded me of the Kone on Del off thing against City in the cup at the start of the year.

Not a criticism of CL in any way, btw.

I think we should keep him in the reserves until he's 25 and more experienced, even though he won't be more experienced because he hasn't played.

Im sure DCL could play as a Right wing back if he was playing for the Brazil team of the 70s against San Marino...but this was a derby game and we were under the cosh (as i keep saying) so the boy was forced back into almost a RB position rather frequently.
