Hibbert said he has relished being back in the first-team fold during Seamus Coleman’s continued absence, although he expects the Irishman to go straight back into the side when he is fit again.

“It’s been straight into the fire,” he said. “The manager showed faith in me and I’m grateful for that. I’ve been on the bench a lot last season but in and out this season and the manager has stuck with me while Seamus has bene injured.

“It’s a bonus to have Tyias there as well. I’ll do anything for the manager and Everton so when he calls me I’m there.

“I’m a footballer I want to be playing week in week out. I understand it’s a squad game though and there are players who deserve to play. Seamus is our number one right-back and he deserves it. It’s just one of them that you enjoy the way the club is going forward and hopefully feature every now and then when you can.”

Say what you like about Hibbert, but he's a true blue who genuinely loves the club. Whether he's good enough anymore I don't know, but his attitude is great. Fair play to him.

This is what you are up against, flibby.

It wouldn't matter if he scored a hat trick and cleared four shots off the line, the haters would carry on pushing their agenda with this kind of inane comment.

To do otherwise would mean they had to admit to being wrong and that is a sign of weakness in the Fumer community, you see.

One boy earlier was more concerned about Shaw making a "stupid challenge" than praising Tony for the clever exchange he initiated with Peinaar before surging into the box to win the penno.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

:)
im glad you rate him mate , i think hes dreadful and will keep making inane comments about how poor he is.

Maybe thats what is keeping him going. Keep it up mate, with Coleman unlikely to play 50+ games a season and youth graduates picking up experience without being hung out to dry - our Tone can keep doing a fine job cheers all the same.

I wished the manure player who brought Hibbo down just let him shoot instead. I can't stand the "Shooooooooot" shout but today he was in!

He's no Coleman but he hasn't exactly been laced by Sterling or Di Maria, has he?
No because the whole team in midfield have to bail his back peddling out he was ok today but still a liability in my eyes as well past his best- If Browning can overlap and play well now in the last two games for 20 mins then start with him!

I think some of the fans who have criticized him this season have been harsh. Of course he's not going to be as good as Seamus but he's done a good fill in job

They have been way OTT, i would even go as far to say some decided he played bad even before the games kicked off. He is filling in for possibly our best player, he is never going to fill those shoes, but he isn't letting us down as much as some choose to think.

Some questioned his contract in the summer, but its been shown over the last month how important it was that we signed him back on, not by the standard of his play, but by the fact we had to play him. No way would Martinez be playing him if he didn't have to, but with the injuries and lack of experienced players at the back he has no choice. Maybe it might of been better to have spent less money on a forward and more on defenders, but that is a different issue out of Hibberts control.

I think another factor is what kind of a right back would want to join a club which already has the best RB in the country.

No top class RB is going to join so that he can be Seamus's understudy for the next five years.

Bobby knew what his options were.

Good, stout yeoman in Tony.....young modern full back in Tylas.

Between the two of those lids we now know we have reliable back up for Seamus.

They can't give us what he gives obviously.....but who in the EPL could?

Not for the first time, he's proved a lot of people wrong. Held his nerve and held his own at Anfield and Old Trafford, even winning a penalty. I'd just say thank you Hibbo, but I hope you'll understand if I hope that we see very little of you again, because I want Coleman to play as often as possible, and I want to see the young lads Browning and Garbutt given more chances.

Aside for his horror-show vs Swansea Hibbo has been very good in his last 3 games. When I say very good I am not comparing him to Coleman- I'm comparing him to his own Everton history. And despite his ageing legs he has performed very well.
To think some people actually get angry at seeing him wear the shirt, and say "im glad you rate him mate , i think hes dreadful and will keep making inane comments about how poor he is"
poor fan that.
Hibbo won us a penalty at Old Trafford with a surging run into the box. End of days I tell you...
