Tony Hibbert

What an utter embarrassment of a footballer. Shameful that he never scored.

Should have left years ago. His 'best' - and it's a term I'll use very loosely as he's been generally appalling for Everton - was nearly a decade ago. Crazy to think he stuck around like a bad smell for so long. How many millions has he drained from Everton! Finally, finally, his time is up. Thanks and goodbye.

He was. Remember when he played centre half against West Ham and he eventually scored an own goal after a few earlier attempts narrowly missed.

Think that was the game when moyes played nine defenders and cahill up front on his own.

Hibbert gave 100 per cent, and the way some of our players behaved this season that is a quality, but giving 100 per cent should be a given. He really wasn't a good player. He was simply atrocious on the ball for a premier league footballer.

So in 16 years of solid service, you're picking a game where he was played out of position?

Just WOW!

Hibbert has was an average player at best a good defender and could do a job for us but I don't think he will be missed behind the scenes.

A year or two ago I was doin some work with a guy who was very close to moyes, he had also worked with Sam Alleydayce and Phil Neville along with some other well know non football sports stars. He knew I was an Evertonian and he posed me one question, who would you say was the biggest trouble maker behind the scenes at Everton. I guessed at a few names and his reply was Hibbert. I was shocked didn't expect it, but I have no reason to question why he would say this but he mentioned that Hibbert was always the one who would question and undermine the manager and be disruptive.

Amazed he got paid for last 4 years. Very average defender even at his best. Good on defending 1 v 1 when in position. Never in position though. Never pulled out of a tackle as well though. Liked his honesty more than his ability.

Hibbert retired a few years ago to be fair, we've just been kind enough to pay him a wage since. Very solid defender though was Tony, boss slides. Not build for the modern fullback era now though.

For years he drove me mad, especially the overhit crosses into the car park. but as the years rolled by I warmed to him more and more to the point of out and out admiration. Did the job, not many ever got passed him, signed the new contract each time in 20 seconds flat, never mouthed off, never play acted or conned his fellow professional and didn't ask to be injured a lot in his dotage. Those who moaned at him would have swapped everything for just one of those appearances for the club. Good luck Hibbo, can't help but wonder whether he will quickly go into coaching.

I would never say i rated Tony, but i honestly do not get the people who hate him! He was a proper blue, not a phoney one, played wherever he was asked and always, always gave 100%. Whether that 100% was good enough was never his call really and all these knobs saying he should have walked away years ago, would you have in his position? Belonging to the club he supported all his life, would you have walked away in his shoes? If you say yes, you are just deluded!

One thing I will say about him, there were twenty games this season where i would have played him in ANY postion on the park ahead that pack of phoneys who didnplay and i could guarantee more heart and desire than we saw from supposed superstars like Lukaku, Stones and Barkley!

Of course you would have held your hand up and walked out of the club in order to say it money. And to make the place less smelly of course.

Jesus. I think with your attitude you ought to consider changing your username.
