Tony Hibbert

Any news on Hibbert's injury? Not that we're really missing him but I'm just wondering if we'll ever see him play for us again, since his contract runs out at the end of the season.

I'm not sure if he's injured

I sit in MS3 and Hibbert has spent basically every game this season watching from the media area and taking notes. This makes me think he's swotting up to become a coach. I personally think that would be a great role for him

I always like the utter twerps getting their knickers in a twist because he's still on the pay roll. The man played for years for us and always gave his all, isn't on comparatively much money to other players in the squad and is clearly a good influence on the younger players coming through. If he does indeed turn out to be a coach, we could probably get years more service from him in that role. If he turns out to be a great coach for us then it makes complete sense to have kept him on the payroll for a couple of years while he winds down his playing career into a coaching one

I have absolutely no concrete info about this, but I really reckon that last contract he got had coaching stipulations in it. Which is why I could never get my head around people going mental over it.

We just need designated threads for these things to try and divert the flow of mental.

A body language one and a Stealing a Wage one would be a good start.

Aye, maybe he is registered to play but would only be used in a real emergency.

Probably jealously mate

He's a lifelong Blue who lived his dream and played for Everton, all while having the temerity of being just decent while doing so

Rather than live vicariously through Hibbert, as quite a lot of us do, a very unpleasant and nasty part of our fan base decide to get the knives out because they're unhappy with their own lot in life.

I love Tony Hibbert for the simple fact that he proves that if you work hard enough and dedicate yourself to a dream, you can go all the way to achieve it. Tony Hibbert is the fan on the field, and I'm proud of Everton as a club if they're trying to keep him on board and developing him in other areas. It's how it should be.

We as supporters demand loyalty from players, but we're not so good at showing it ourselves sometimes

Hopefully Hibbo is doing wonderful things and generally being a good influence behind the scenes with the yutes and younger players, I think he would make a great coach, would be nice to see him in an Everton shirt again before he retires and watch that net bulge as he smashes in the winner on the last day that sends us into the top 4, (okay I'm slightly in the realms of fantasy with that last part!).

Agree mate. It's crazy to say Hibbert was a bad footballer. He played in the Premier League of English football for his whole career. He clearly wasn't as bad as some make out.

And by some, I include myself in there. He did my head in loads. But then so does everyone else at some point or other.

if you go tonys' fishing lake in france and just cast off anywhere you might have issues getting fish. However if you use hibbos' tutorial on positioning you just might score?!

He should have been given a coaching role encouraged to do his badges his contract was a joke at his age, great servant ,but why make him the best Carp fisherman in Huyton?????

tony has a serious passion for the game and fish and everton. Won the opta stats in 2002 best defender ?? maybe ive the years wrong.

His carp lake should be part of pre season. Sign him up as a coach, the man is legend.

Good God.

Should have never made it out of the reserves and a dire indication of our system for the past twenty years.

Oh he's only on 30k a week. Oh he's a lifelong clubman.

He's a good man and a garbage footballer.

Heavens to Mercatroid. This isn't a Charity.

Spot on.

Epitomises what was great about the Moyes era for me. A group of players combining to perform, and deliver league cup and euro places well above their indivudal respective balance sheet value on paper. Alongside Cahill, Arteta more recently Naismith and stones all theze lads are moyes signings who came in worked and delivered!

Good luck Tony.
