Back to the future is a perfect script. Said it before, but the first 10 minutes of that movie sets up every single plot point which gets paid off later, and does it in a funny or interesting way. Genuinely think it’s the best written screenplay on that list.

It is a flawless script. I would say that L.A. Confidential is an even better one, but I get where you're coming from. The rules that Exley lays out (with the assistance of Cromwell), then violates, are completely filthy.

Hot Fuzz might be the best script in the vein you're describing. There are no wasted words.
