Player Valuation: £8m
First time I've seen such a well-choreographed piece to get a player sent off

that dive literally made me shut off the set and go rake leaves in my back yard. I thought Chile was going to be left out of group play for sure.

The Dutch commentator said of the incident: "It was a right decision to give him a red card, as Torres isn't the player to take a dive. Fcuking moron!

* The above of course translated from Dutch into English.*

I have no idea what the hell people here are talking about. Torres was clipped by the Chilean defender, the player himself stumbles slightly at the same moment because of the contact. Torres's right leg is touched while he's running at full pelt, which causes it to hit his standing leg as it comes around. It's not a dive.

The sending off was a complete idiocy, but to say that it was a deliberate ploy is purely based in what people want to see because he's a RS.

The Chilean's knee hits Torres's foot causing him to tangle up his legs and go down. Definitely a foul.

If the ref thinks it was intential at all then a booking is the right decision.

I am looking at the gif in slow motion. There is no contact!

Still looking at it in slow motion, and still not seeing contact. Movement looks coordinated. I'd really like to see where this contact is!
