Because if he judges it to be synical attempt at stopping Torres from getting into the box for a possible goal scoring oppertunity its a yellow as opposed to a red for denying a definate goal scoring oppertunity.

Well he didn't give a free kick because spain ended up scoring anyway but I wouldn't have minded if he had done. Assuming there was contact then Spain deserve a free kick but it's also clearly accidental and Torres mostly trips over himself. Hence no yellow card.

If spain hadn't scored and the ref had given a free kick without a yellow, I doubt anyone would have blinked. Hell, the same player did a much worse tackle without getting a yellow earlier.

I'm not going along with the idea that if was either no foul or a yellow.

Fair play, but if they hadn't scored and the ref blows for a free kick, I would have booked the guy. I dont think it was a free kick or a dive, I think it was an accidental tangle of legs. But if the ref feels it was a blatent trip which he obviously did, its a yellow card.

This. Ppersonally think he bottled out of a second yellow earlier on and then thought better of it. Two wrongs don't make a right, they make a red

Not gonna read this whole thread, so maybe somebody else has said this, but in the ladyboys defence, hes running and he gets his foot clipped, hes gonna go down, any decent pro would.

In the refs defence, its so hard in full motion to know if its on purpose or not, I feel sorry for the lerd who got sent off, but for once the ladyboy RS isnt to blame.

He does not get his foot clip, Torres' trailing foot hits the Chile lads knee which in turn smacks the back of his own calf.

I just absolutely belted the right back who'd gotten forward and gave away a penalty today.

Knew it was going to happen before I did it...he was way too quick, had gotten to the by-line and took a touch back and BOOM. Nearly had to be stretchered off the poor sod.

I was already on a yellow too.

Just had to get that off my chest.
