Just happened across this quote from Conte on leaving Richarlison on the bench recently.

"When you play every game and especially with a different pressure compared to at Everton, he needed to have a bit of rest."

That's poor from Antonio, you have to say.

That tells us how far we have fallen and how were are perceived by other clubs and managers.

Its a bit rich coming from serial bottlers like Spurs but at least they're competing near the top.

And yet we have a chairman who thinks we've had "Good times"

I took that to mean that, as an individual, his role at Everton was different to his role at Spurs; at Everton he needed to be on the pitch every game for us to survive, whereas he can be rested/rotated at Spurs.

Foreign managers can be imprecise in their use of words.

Can't see us getting much at Spurs but IF we can keep tight and have a couple of sorties from Gray and the like they could get a bit worried and clam up a bit. Think Gana and Onana will have to play deeper and we cannot have a high line.

I enjoyed that long unbeaten run, but the loss last week has taken that feeling right away. I know Utd had won 4 in a row before City thumped them, but I expected a lot more from us.

I don't expect anything from this game.

Had a lot more confidence in our midfield until that United game, didn't offer anything near what we expect from them. Our wide men didn't help them out too much but that's no excuse for the lack of tackles they were putting in. They need to up it massively for this one.

Spurs haven't properly clicked this season from what I've seen yet they're still one of the best sides about, look very tough to beat and now have Kane and Son fit and firing.

We may have a good defensive record so far but only 8 goals scored is very poor, Lampard needs to shake things up a bit.

Tough game, not one I expect anything from. We are looking like a 12th - 15th placed side, and that's ok this year as long as we aren't in big trouble come April. We need to cut out the home losses, anything we get in an away game like this is an excellent result.

Played really well here (first game?) in 2020/21 season which set the tone for the season and a great run of games thereafter.

Played awful here 21/22 season which set the tone for the remainder of the season too and a change in approach from Lampard the ideologue to Lampard the pragamatist.

Think Spurs away is quite a good barometer for us. This year teams have shown that if you boss their two-man midfield you can pin them back and cause them trouble. For that reason expect Iwobi Gana and Onana to start and us to have a decent amount of possession and control. They are hard to break down through the middle but crosses from wide and deep could be fruitful. Think Onana will be key, his late runs into the box will be disruptive. But their forward line is mustard and they are lethal on the transition. Calling it a draw. 1-1 or 2-2.

Alternatively we could nick it or we could also lose.

Cheers

UTFT

Need to keep it very tight first half & hope Kane and Son have a bad day.

Spurs aren't playing well but those 2 can win an game.

Hopefully we can snatch a horrible 1-0 win like a few seasons back.
