Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admitted he had some sympathy with Moyes, but said: “We all face problems with fixture congestion at some time.
“Everton put their best team out tonight. They didn’t put a bunch of kids out. They had Fellaini, Saha, Distin, Cahill and Yakubu out there.
“Everton might say they only put out what they had, but I was the same. We only had what we had. Everybody who was fit was there tonight.
“We were in the same boat as David. He wanted to win and so did we. He could have played five kids but he chose not to.
“I haven’t got a squad as big as Everton. You go through their top players, there’s more at Everton that there are here.
“We haven’t got a big squad. I’ve got four strikers and four central defenders, but after that I’ve only got three central midfielders. Most have six. We’re not overloaded.”

they played 2 home games and aren't in europe ffs

I actually thought we started quite brightly, but were never really getting sufficiently into the game, compared to Spurs. The first goal really seemed to set the players back on their heels & I felt that after allowing Spurs to score from the penalty Howard had saved we stopped really looking like a team. For me this was the most shocking aspect. It may be down to having 3 new players in the back 4 & a few youngsters in the middle of the park, but usually Moyes' players look like a team, but I didn't feel they were tonight. I know there have been rumours of a bust-up with Yobo & I also wonder if some players are unimpressed with the way the Lescott transfer saga was handled (after all, that could be them next time!), but I'm concerned about a lack of team spirit, which has generally been a hallmark of Moyes' sides.

Anyway, I only had to return to the South coast & was home about half twelve, I felt really sorry for all those lads facing the long haul back to Liverpool. They deserved better, we all did.

I got home last night quite sure that I would never see a Everton captain lift this trophy, there was some talk on the radio about Hairy RedTwitt and injuries concerns and saying his Spurs or Portsmouth sides at some point in time were all in plaster and they still turned out two hours later at a cup game in Inverness, something like that.

A little upset, I really did think we could do well in this competition, after winning three there in a row, but last night was not to be. :(

Probably give them a good whipping in the league anyway. Maybe.
