Leaving transfer business to the last day as a matter of club policy is high risk, unsustainable nonsense tbh. For every time it has worked (Lukaku, Fellaini), there has been a time we've missed out on decent players in order to sign dross like Drenthe and Straq.

Our bid wasn't too late. 10 days is more than enough time for any club to replace a player.

If we'd have come in for yarmolenko a month ago the owner would have said we weren't a big enough club. It was never going to end well. My only concern is we've now left it too late to get a real quality player in

But the club's stance is the same, is it not? If they want their best player for the Champions League, then good for them. We've made a good bid that they seriously thought about, but they don't want to lose him. Not much else to say really.

Another massive difference mate is that the Kiev fans are massively behind him being allowed to leave, a combination of wishing him to play at a higher level, and wanting the money to reinvest in the team, they really don't like the chairman's stance keeping him for a year to leave on a free, message boards are nearly all saying sell lol

Plus they love the bloke and admire him for him staying an extra contract to help them win the league
