So basically it ends tomorrow for us in terms of landing a playmaker, given Martinez's views on the inability of domestic players in that position.
A club can still sell to another team whose window is open

Leaving transfer business to the last day as a matter of club policy is high risk, unsustainable nonsense tbh. For every time it has worked (Lukaku, Fellaini), there has been a time we've missed out on decent players in order to sign dross like Drenthe and Straq.

We even played the Champions league qualifier against Villarreal without a specialist left back so we could save a few quid.

Get the main targets in early FFS.

IT'S TOO LATE TO SAY THIS NOW MACCA BOY YOU SHOULD HAVD TOLD THE MANAGER IN MAY MATE

Our bid wasn't too late. 10 days is more than enough time for any club to replace a player.

Their chairman is just saying that to make it look like he wasn't trying to hold the player against his wishes. He loves Kiev and wants them to do well in the Champions League this year, he doesn't care about the money and as Yarmelenko wasn't kicking up a fuss he decided to keep him.

People shouldn't use it against the board, he wouldn't have sold him to us if we'd come in a month ago.

I'm not sure how much clearer this Surkis fella needs to be really. They're doing the same thing with Yarmo as we did with Stones, and good luck to them.
No mate the situation is completely different, Yarmolenko has been there his whole career, won everything with the team and wants to make a change of direction with the supposed blessing of the chairman. Now the chairman has turned tail and said you can only go where i say you can go.
Stones has just signed a new long term deal with us, suggesting he buys into the ethos. His agent has clearly been in his ear with all sorts of nonsense.
The Stones deal is money motivated but the Yarmolenko deal is natural progression.

We can still sigh overseas after tomorrow..For example Russia can still sigh players after our windows shut I'm January for example.

I remember samba being sold after the deadline for us so 6pm Tuesday is when we can't sign anyone else

If we'd have come in for yarmolenko a month ago the owner would have said we weren't a big enough club. It was never going to end well. My only concern is we've now left it too late to get a real quality player in

But the club's stance is the same, is it not? If they want their best player for the Champions League, then good for them. We've made a good bid that they seriously thought about, but they don't want to lose him. Not much else to say really.

Another massive difference mate is that the Kiev fans are massively behind him being allowed to leave, a combination of wishing him to play at a higher level, and wanting the money to reinvest in the team, they really don't like the chairman's stance keeping him for a year to leave on a free, message boards are nearly all saying sell lol

Plus they love the bloke and admire him for him staying an extra contract to help them win the league

Truly bizarre
