Here's a one I learned today.

I don't think anyone has much chance of getting it right, it's too hard to really enjoyable, but it's interesting so I'll put it up.

As well as the five south american players to play for everton, we've also employed two non south americans who at some point played professional football in south america.

Anyone care to guess who those two are?

Too obvious to be true but Oviedo maybe?

You used the term "employed by". Alcarez? (Not sure he has played yet)

He's south american, though. He'll soon become the 6th south american to play for us.

I'm talking about non south americans to play down there.

One had a brief loan spell in ecuador before we bought him. And one we sold to colombia (we actually lost two players to them, but one came back without signing terms after a trial and went to sunderland instead).

Sorry mate! Realised my cock up straight away!

Higgins (Bill) - late 40s - The FA stopped the transfer.

He did play for them, though. Jack Hedley, another everton player at the time, went out for a trial and came back without ever playing professionally there.

Bill Higgins though was one of 7 brits to join the colombian league in the late 40s early 60s and played at least one league game alongside di stefano.

Though because colombia was banned from fifa players who went were still counted as under contract with their previous clubs by the fa.
