Trivia Question

Got a brilliant but non Everton related quiz question.

Which ex-premiership player has scored the most international goals for their country?

Quite a tricky one to word. So essentially, any player to have ever played in the prem, who has scored the most goals for their national team. Huge rep to whoever gets this (without cheating.)

Stern John, Trin & Tobago?

Obviously a shot in the dark, but I know he played in the prem and tallied a huge number for his country.

The last fifty different goal scorers for Everton (not own goal scorers) are: Cahill, Osman, Saha, Fellaini, Yakubu, Arteta, Anichebe, Pienaar, Baines, Johnson, Jelavic, Lescott, McFadden, Beckford, Mirallas, Billy, Coleman, Jagielka, Beattie,
Lukaku, Vaughan, Rodwell, Jo, Naismith, Yobo, Gosling, Neville, Distin, Drenthe, Heitinga, Stubbs, Vellios, Stracqualarsi, Barkley, Carsley, Donovan, Fernandes, Gibson, Deulofeu, Gueye, Barry, Ferguson, Howard, Naysmith,
Oviedo, Weir, Castillo, S Davies and Marcus Bent.

Can you name any of the previous 50?

Only 10 of the present PL managers have won against Everton at Goodison - just two with their present clubs (Wenger, obviously, and Mourinho (when previously at Chelsea)) - the other 8 have won ONLY when managing other clubs.. name the 8 managers and the club (or clubs) they were managing to victory at Goodison.

Allardyce - Bolton, at least twice.
AVB - Chelsea, League Cup.
Hughton - Newcastle, Ben Arfa Scored.
Pulis - Stoke 1-0 Huth
Hughes - lost 1-2 to City in May 2009 i think. Blackburn FA Cup.
Martinez - Wigan, 2013.
Bruce - Birmingham/Crystal palace.
Pelligrini - Villarreal
Pardew - West Ham

Pelligrini is correct, Hughes managed Blackburn to 2 wins at Goodison - making him the only current manager in the PL to win with 2 different teams - if we overlook Roberto Martinez, naturally. Jol also won with Spurs (but he's not at Fulham now). You missed one as Bruce is wrong I believe.

Bruce is right if you're talking technicalities too.

Everton went out on pens to palace in September 2001, in the league cup, Bruce was in charge until November.

Wenger lots..(7 or 8 times), Mourinho 2 times (previous spell)

Hughes 3 (Blackburn 2, City 1), Hughton (Newcastle), Pelligrini (Villarreal), Allardyce (Bolton, 2), AVB (Chelsea) 1, Martinez (Wigan) 1, Pardew (West Ham) 1, Pulis (Stoke) 1.. all the others haven't done it - Moyes having failed with Preston - Bruce has failed a few times, most of the rest haven't managed too many games at Goodison.

28 players to have played for Everton have surnames with the same first letter as the last. So, for example, Jimmy Bumblebob or Stewie Poppadapop.

Some have the same surname as you might expect. Realistically you'll know if you're right or not so I'll just tick them off at my leisure.

GO.
