I am ready for the flak but we have been watching "the real marigold hotel " with the celebs from UK .Love to see India from their view -not total tourist - and love how some moan before it starts to then change their minds. Must go to India before long .
An amazing place.
Absolutely beautiful and incredibly grim can be viewed within a few minutes of each other.
Best 'lads trip' I have done is motorcycling around Ladakh and over the highest road in the world, the Umling Pass. (19'000 ft - almost 6 times higher than Snowdon)
Kerala is stunning, beautiful beaches and inland waterways to explore.
Goa is very nice but suffers a little from all the layabouts that have moved there under the guise of spirituality, truth is all they want to do is smoke weed and live for a pittance.
Mumbai/Bombay is like most big cities, nice areas and less so. I didn't do a 'slum tour' as I feel the guides shouldn't really be exploiting the squalid life of 300'000 or so people that live there. They say the tour money goes back into the slum but I'm not convinced.
I once left my hotel, turned left for a walk down the waterfront towards the Gateway of India for some photographs. Fella a few steps ahead stopped, hitched up his lungi and did a big turd on the pavement. Nobody batted an eyelid.
Incredible India is right.
