TV Series

watched Wandavision over the weekend, they have only put 2 episodes online and they release another one on Friday, I think there will be 9 episodes in total. But they are only 20 minutes long (with 6 minutes of end credits, no special scenes, just the names of every person who has ever worked for Marvel or Disney). I get why disney do this, so people dont just buy 1 month and binge the whole thing.

It was weird, without spoiling anything. If you dont have Disney plus already I would say wait for another 7 weeks, until they are all released and then watch the whole 3 hours all in one go, then it might sort of make sense.
Watched the first two episodes yesterday and while I’ve seen enough to keep me intrigued for the next one, I’m defo hoping for a bit more from it.....
The Marvel Legends series they’ve just launched too is a right old load of filler, just scenes of each character taken from all the previous movies.....
The trailers for Loki, Hawkeye and The Falcon suggest they may be a bit more mainstream than Wandavision hopefully....

Anyone watched this series about the Pembrokeshire Murders on ITV?
The Coastal Path murders, true story about a serial killer in south Wales, circa 89? Watched the first one last night, was ok, I thought it was a documentary but it's done like a drama series.
The guy was a contestant on Bullseye 3 weeks earlier and I think won the Speedboat star prize haha
We watched it and it was obviously competently made but it was very nuts and bolts formulaic telling. But I suppose the the reopened investigation and subsequent events weren't really that dramatic. Interesting and thorough but maybe a little dry for a TV show.

And the subplot with the detective's son was seemed almost wilfully formulaic. Quite how something so hackneyed even makes it from the writers brain to paper defies belief, let alone into an actual production in the 21st century. Even if that part wasn't dramatic license and was accurate to real life it still shouldn't have made the cut.

Compare it to Des which was more or less just conversations and interviews but made a much more engrossing show due to a much more interesting character and it falls short....which sounds terrible when I'm talking about real life horrific acts but TV is TV I suppose and there's no law saying every investigation needs to be dramatised for ITV.

....Luke Evans is very good, I remembered him from the Alienist. if the bookies gave me a price, I think he’d be an excellent James Bond.

I remember thinking the very same when High Rise came out. Think they might have to go a little younger though given the time between Bond films.

Finally started watching Mindhunter at the weekend after putting it off for ages and have got through all bar final episode of Series 1. Have been very pleased with it and am looking forward to bingeing Season 2...
What’s been quite good is some of the cases have been on true crime podcasts I’ve listened to previously.

The portyal of Ed Kemper ( the co Ed Killer ) in series 2, is as good as anything you’ll ever see.

See I had never heard of the case in Wales, the documentary about it I watched last night, which came across as part 4, that was interesting, I now see what you mean about drama license.
Des I really wish I had watched now.

Finished The Method on Netflix.

Thought the ending wrapped it all up pretty nicely, but I've since read there's a second season due out soon.

Don't think I'll bother to check it to be honest, without Meglin it will now be Esenya going solo and therefore a standard 'tortured female detective fighting against her demons' type show which we've got enough of already. Plus she's just not that likeable, kept hoping HE'D kill HER off not vice versa.

Yeah it's sort of interesting so far, I have since read on screen rant that Wandavision was supposed to be 6 episodes, each over 40 minutes long and the decision was made to recut it to 9 episodes, so presumably there will be longer epidodes as the series progresses. I think the other TV series will be more in line with the films

5 episodes into the Stand now, still dont know if I like it,could be bias as its my favourite King book and I have pictured how the characters look and sound so its difficult to shift my mindset from that, though it is doing a reasonable job of trying to capture the book
Have you watched the original series they made in the 90's? It was brilliant, though it was the 90's when I watched it so it may seem garbage now.

I'm just about to start watching the new series now.

Was it the 90s? I honestly thought it was earlier than that, yeah I watched it,as I have said the Stand is probably my favourite King book, this version is decent, around an hour each episode,Im on episode 5 and Tom Cullen and the others have just got to Vegas,so it looks like they arent rushing it
