This was much much better than I thought it was going to be :

Seven Seconds. ( Netflix )

Written by the creator of the Killing.

Set in an snowy New York. A young, off duty drug squad officer, runs over an African American teenager on his bike. Who may or may not be a gang member.

His corrupt colleagues, convince and assist him to cover things up.

The case is assigned to a loner detective and a washed up, alcoholic District Attorney and the more they dig, the more they unravel the web of lies spun by the officers.

Has a real feel of the Shield / Southland.

Well written, well cast, dark and handles tricky subjects like racial prejudice, drug use / drug dealing within ethnic communities and endemic corruption with a real skill.

Maybe two episodes too long at ten episodes, but other than that recommended.

….we watched that too, it was decent.

First 2 episodes tonight

I'm excited for this. I suggest checking out the book too, I'm sure that the show is going to have to leave things out and the whole story is pretty shocking.

You can sign up for HBO Max using an American VPN, that's what I've done. Not worked out how to get the HBO Max app on my TV yet though so will be watching on my computer most likely.

Do you pay for your VPN? And you can use a UK credit card/PayPal with an English address?

You will need a proper VPN subscription with someone like Nord VPN or Express VPN. I use Nord, either will do the job.

You just turn on your VPN and set it to any server in the US. Go to HBO Max website and sign up using your credit card, I had no problems with using my UK one but I signed up quite a while back so there is a chance it may have changed but id imagine it still works fine. I can't remember if they have Paypal as a payment option.
