TV Series

Just finished off Big Boys on 4OD (running weekly on like Channel 4 I think?). 6 part semi-autobiographical comedy/drama series about a closeted lad in his first year of uni narrated by Jack Rooke (comedian I think) who it's about. It battles sexuality as well as mental health and was hilarious, relatable and very poignant. Wonderful TV and the last episode had me balling like a baby.

Highly recommend.

Edit: Also has a banging soundtrack.

Tried to force myself to watch stranger things season 2 due to being stuck on a train for a few hours and having people tell me season 4 is good (very dubious about this claim), couldn’t manage it… truly awful television and every bit as bad as I remembered it being when I tried to watch it a few years back.

Would rather watch a compilation of Liverpool FCs greatest moments that watch that [Poor language removed]. Not got a good plot or script ? Let’s just force loads of token 80s nostalgia on the viewer and hope they don’t notice.

That’s what I get also. Great theme tune and music but terrible child actors and script writing, especially for the ways the kids interact.

The end of season 2 made me cringe more than possibly any other show I have watched. No chance I’m going to watch season 3 to get to 4.

Better shows have been cancelled.

Series four is brilliant, full on horror.

Really clever intertwining of other classic horror stuff within each episode too.

Fight me.

I thought series 3 was a bit of a letdown after the first 2, but series 4 has been great so far. I enjoyed every episode, even with them being over an hour long. They've gone full on horror this year and I like it

I watched the first episode and wasn't completely convinced, carried on watching and ended up really enjoying it and blasted through the series.

Yeh I think a lot of people will be too worried it would just rip off Fresh Meat/Inbetweeners but it has so much more depth to it.

I just like that it covers loads of serious stuff without being patronising and self righteous, I've only seen one series of Sex Education but kind of reminds me of that and the way they deal with stuff.

I was worried for Danny the way it was narrated - my little heart couldn't handle it. Would recommend finishing Sex Ed it gets better.

Yeah I suspect I was thinking the same, loads of great characters in it, the gay black fella terrifies me and arouses me in equal measure. I started S2 of Sex Ed and need to carry on, the last bit I saw was when he jizzed all over the car window hahaha
