TV Series

Really enjoyed my first ep of The Old Man. Very tense and a unique dynamic on the spy genre with a man not able to abuse his physicality.

On the list I might start it over the weekend.

That LOTR show is actually quite bland when all is said and done. Its still quite watchable but the story is just a very meh considering that we're past the halfway point of season one. Plus some of the lines and dialogue are just unforgiveably bad......?‍♂️

There's lines exactly like this all over the films though. I think I'm enjoying it, I keep watching it every week.

Yeah and I hated those stupid lines in the films too. I'm not one of the Peter Jackson fanboys that think his films are above criticism. There's plenty wrong with them and some of the laughable lines and dialogue are part of it. That still doesn't excuse the show though. Nor does it make the thing less bland. I'm still watching because as I've said before, its not a bad show. Its just not very Tolkien or a good representation of work as far as I'm concerned.

The Dahmer series on Netflix.

Well made, with some fantastic performances. Like many Netflix series, it was stretched out to more episodes than it needed to be, so lost its momentum as it went on, and last couple of episodes I started losing interest.

The episode centred around the deaf victim was the high point for me.

watched that one last night, excellent and heart-breaking at same time

Ive never read the books, no actually I read the Hobbit in high school, so I know very little of the backstory. I love Galadriel she’s a badass. And the dwarf son, its a fine performance. I think I just like the scope of it, the detail in the design, and the story is what I would expect from Middle Earth. Im not getting where Sauron is from though, is he one of the first beings on the planet or what? Are the Wizards the same species as Sauron? And finally are the orcs Sauruman digs up in Two Towers end up buried alive in the tunnels theyre building now?

Dahmer is.. unsettling.

I'd already read quite a bit about him including his background, childhood etc. but seeing it played out on screen just really brings to life how bad it all was.

I know the show has come under fire from certain people in the media & the victims families for seemingly 'glorifying' (or in some cases even fetishizing) him, but I've found it to be engrossing.

Evan Peters' performance is something else - he's got some balls on him to do that like.

Also, I know this won't be interesting to many people, but October is shaping up to be a really good month for new anime drops.

I'm really, really looking forward to the new Bleach episodes. I was devo'ed when they decided to cancel the anime after the Fullbring arc wrapped up about ten years ago now. The final arc (Thousand-Year Blood War) was superb in the manga and it looks like it's finally getting the anime treatment that it deserves. It's launching on 10 October:

Also dropping in October:

1 October - My Hero Academia Season 6, Spy x Family Part 2, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc Memorial Edition
3 October - Golden Kamuy Season 4
5 October - Mob Psycho 100 Season 3
8 October - Blue Lock (a new sports anime about football)
11 October - Chainsaw Man

Most of these will be streaming on Crunchyroll.
