TV Series

Great stuff on Andor again this week. It was probably one of the weaker episodes tbh but still really good stuff. Plus they finally resolved my only problem with the show and had a none human/alien character so I've got officially nowt to complain about regarding the show now.lol

Its very, very up and down, it has huge periods of total meh, but its mostly very good, just stick with it for the bad bits of which there are many sadly.

Also, if you havent watched The Shield, its a top, top show, we have been blessed with some very good shows recently, so its probably dropped in my list, but for a long, long time it was without doubt the best show I had seen that wasnt The Wire.

The Shield is a weird one for me. It seems kind of thrashy and basic in some ways and like it shouldn't be that much better than countless other cop shows, but it does absolutely hook you and I've watched it through fully twice and loved it both times.

I've thankfully grown out of my everything seems crap in comparison to The Wire phase.

Vic Mackey is one of the best anti heroes ever, plus once the likes of Glen Close and Forest Whittaker come in, you know then, that it‘s proper quality.

I dunno it still had a bang of "this is shiny clichéd cop drama" off it when I started it and does still in parts for me, but it doesn't matter it just works. I only stuck with it as my mate who pestered me for a year to watch the Wire had started to do the same with it. Glad I did

Vic is an extremely well written character and it's great casting. When he is really in trouble the acting is fantastic

Another big plus for the Shield with me, is that they finished it properly.

A lot of long running dramas, seem to leave you feeling cheated, as they seem to bottle the end, but not so the Shield.

The ending of the Shield isn`t just fantastic, it turns you inside out.

It stayed with me for days and the scene with Shane, destroyed me.

Now, that is good writing.

After finishing Better Call Saul I was looking for my next “ oldie series” so started “ Boardwalk Empire” . My youngest son recommended it a few years ago but I never got into it . I’m three episodes in now , I can see the potential with the likes of Steve Buscemi and Stephen Graham , but still not sure. So what’s the GOT verdict , stick with it or dump?

I watched random episodes of that...never tried a full sitting. Let me know if its worth watching.

Stick with it.

If you`re after an old one but a good one, you can`t go wrong with the Shield.

Brilliant viewing.

I always try and watch Series 1 of True Detective, at least once a year and I still never get bored with it.

Remains the all time great tv Detective drama ( imo ) and I can`t see it ever being beaten.

Nothing comes close to it.

I got 3 or 4 episodes in...turned it off.

Nothing happened lol

You need to go back to series one of True Detective immediately.

To say nothing happens in it, has to be one of he understatements of all time !

There`s only 8 episodes and you switched it off, after they`d spent the first 4 episodes laying the groundwork for the next 4 episodes, which are amongst the best episodes of anything that`s ever been written for tv !!!!!!!!!!!

The first 2-3 episodes are my favourite. If he’s not going to like those, he won’t like the rest. Maybe not enough borderline age blondes in it.

Ok so basically the 2nd half of 1st season is brilliant...while nothing happens in the 1st half...bar setting up the 2nd half ?
