I am loving this show. 2 eps in. Think I know who done it, kinda tempted to read ahead to see if I’m smart or dumb.
Watched it about three times thought it was brilliant, McConaughy and Harrelson were perfect for their roles.
I’m gonna drop my theory here before I start ep 3, see how far off I was:
So basically they’re being interviewed 10+ years later because a similar crime has occurred even though a guy is inside for the first one. I get half an impression they believe Rust is involved/did it and then half an impression it’s something bigger. My initial hunch is that the killer is either the tall smarmy reverend from ep1 or his cousin the state governor. I reckon the high profile nature of the murder, the pressure coming from this anti-God squad etc. is going to lead to a false arrest to publicly wrap it up and/or to take the heat off the reverend/governor as they’re worried Rust will figure it out. They keep saying “you’re making no progress” when he clearly is. I could be wayyyy off but that’s my observations from the first 2. Really enjoying it though.
Not telling you going to keep my big mouth shut..just enjoy..
Not sure if it won any awards for it but the cinematography in True Detective is amazing. They get the lighting, framing and focus of every shot just right.
It’s flawless in every way.
What are S2 and S3 like? If they're not worth it I don't mind skipping since they're standalone.
Series 2 is a mess - turns into a run of the mill, detective series.
Series 3 is good.
Skip series 2.
It was a real shame and you’ll spend the whole time wanting to like it and desperately trying to understand it but it’s a horrible mess just like COYBL25 said.Shame, quite like Farrell in stuff but not surprised a series with Mahershala Ali as lead is a hit.
