TV Series

Had to sack it off halfway through season 4 when

He announces on live TV that he's into S&M, and he still gets the AG role, and then they just arbitrarily get rid of the Russian ffs

It was incredible up until season 4 and then nosedived

Hahahaha, that was great that press conference

The Russians should have stuck around like

Carnival Row is pretty good. Huge budget and very well made. Not quite on the very top shelf of shows, but I enjoyed the design and direction. 7.5 out of 10.

Bit of a late shout but really getting into the last kingdom at the minute.

Coming from Vikings it would be easy to compare but they are completely different shows to a certain extent. Into season 2 now and enjoying the unpredictability of the story at times.

Watching a lot of Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Excellent and I'm on series 8 now (Ponderosa Wedding Massacre) and it doesn't seem to be dropping off. Probably a bit of a marmite show though and I can imagine some hate it.
I've watched all of it and it's pretty incredible how they have managed to keep the level so high for 14 seasons. It's not as consistent as it used to be but still hilarious.

You should check out Mythic Quest when you're done. It's created by Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day and Mac is the lead. It's not as good as It's Always Sunny but I really enjoyed it.

In the last week I’ve watched the finale of Homeland. One of the best finales I’ve watched in any series in a long time. Definitely one of my favourite series over the last 10 years.

Also just watched the whole of ZeroZeroZero. Pretty decent, I thought.
I gave myself a pat on the back for avoiding all the spoiler reports this past week on the finale of Homeland.
I'm glad I did, for me at least, a satisfying end.

Started Season 2 last night. The end of season 1 was good but made no sense in how certain characters became capable of fighting numerous battle hardened Danes but it's easy enough to ignore as it keeps entertaining. And it looked like they had a lottery to decide who rides off alongside Uhtred at the end....no real connection whatsoever. Why them?

The pacing is still off as well. A montage and sad music to mourn a character who'd been in about 2 or 3 episodes and must have had less than 30 minutes of total screen time?

I really do like it though. Just seems like there are very odd choices made in how the tale is told.

I think the dialogue is based about ulthred rather than everyone else.

So he always has a companion , the nun and female interest.

I agree timing is off , no explanation on gap between 1 and 2 , Alfred's daughter ages 10 years but that doesn't pass in the show. One of these that you have to forget logic and enjoy rather than hold it accountable

Vikings does it differently and establishes characters over a season rather than expect you to assume straight away for pacing .

They've got enough material to go on. Being a fan of the books, I hated it at first, thought they'd got the casting all wrong. It's got better though and seems to be getting better ever season. There's certainly enough books for it to carry on for a while yet. Aethelflaed, is an interesting character. She should be far better known in history than she is. What she accomplished would be admirable for a man, but for a woman in the 10th century, it was remarkable.

It's all based on Cornwell's novels about The Saxon Chronicles. I think each season covers two books. Which means a lot of stuff is cut out, unfortunately a lot of that seems to be character development and what the producers see as insignificant plot lines. Season 4 has seen them made quite a lot of changes from the novels.

Is that Alfred's daughter?

I am enjoying the story so far. Blunt when it needs to be, like with the fella in the first series billed as unbeatable , or the second series after ulthred goes for a boat ride without saying anything

That's her, pretty remarkable woman in real life. They've softened up Uhtred a lot for the tv series, but that's purely for a modern audience.
