Tyias Browning

Played well at Anfield last year and did well yesterday.

At 5'11, i would prefer if he sticks to right back. Fast, hard and good in the air he is a different type to Coleman but has great promise.

Ha, that is why I put the qualifier in!

And tbf to Browning he is a long way from a clogger, his ball control has improved quite a lot and, although it will probably never be at a Stones like level, imo it is already better than Distin's who was an excellent defender for us at his peak.

One thing we as fans need to try not to do is start comparing any of the young lads to Stones, we won't end up doing them any favours at all, much like all the ones burdened with 'as talented as Rooney' didn't benefit from the added pressure.

Initial view would be Browning seems to have what it takes to be a decent squad player for us for the future at both rb and cb possibly, think that's how i am going to leave how I rate him at, for the time being at least ;)

I was seriously worried before the game that Monteiro would have him but he did fine. Definitely looks a centre half though.

This just about covers it.

Browning has more chance of being in the mix for a CH berth in 3 years...I see him as a faster Duffy and a bit of a late bloomer.
He is never going to put in a Lescott / Galloway-esque run of games as a CH playing at FB.

*puts head on vaulting block; He will only ever play there if Coleman or who ever the No.1 is picks up a knock and the No.2 is injured.
and It's 50/50 he will be still at The Club at all in 5 years.

Tyias although doesn't offer anything whilst going forward unlike BG. I do feel there's a resolute CB in him. I think at 21 years of age and when other players return to fitness, I would like to see TB spend the rest of the season playing week in week out at CB for a championship club. I think he has a future at this club, I just don't think he will ever be the ball player Martinez prefers. More of a Jags-esk type CB.

You won't get the main plaudits tonight TB, but you had a good game. Well done lad.

Has held up well defensively but his distribution is pretty poor. He's clearly not a right back however so deserves credit for stepping up when needed. Might make a decent centre back

Good post mate along with @Whitty

I think he could make a good right break, could be a great centre back but most importantly is a player if I see him on the team sheet I think 'yep he's going to do o.k' judging by his first team performances so far.

Thought he was superb tonin ht and didn't get forward too much because he had Del in front of him so was disciplined enough to know if Del lost it trying something, he wouldn't be caught out of position

Dont think he's playing with a lot of self confidence at the minute seems nervous and cagey he's better going forward than what he's shown in the last couple of games !

More experience for him, like money in the bank.
I think it was a difficult night for him but he coped well.
A young defender should only be coming into a team surrounded by experienced players to help them through.
To-night I think three of our four defenders have probably about ten premiership games between them...scary how well they performed.

I agree. When he'd receive the ball at midfield he'd look forward and then immediately pass it back to Jags. Hard to blame him for being a little nervous.

Not many threats down his side and he has the pace to keep up with wingers, but he is not versatile like BG. I would keep him around the club for the rest of the season, but next year I would want him in a Championship side playing weekly at CB. I don't see RM keeping him as our back up RB since he limits us soo much going forward. Still he was asked to do the job and he did it admirably. A lot to like with him.

Galloway was very similar in his first couple of games. They must be putting themselves under huge pressure not to make a mistake and play a bit more conservatively.
I thought he put another solid shift in again.
He is no Stones or Galloway, but looks an excellent defender. Our new Hibbert?
