Ukraine invasion and the sanction of Oligarchs

That has nothing to do with Everton FC.

Both sides are almost as bad as each other: expansionists on the Russian side; nazis on the Ukrainian side.

I wont be manipulated by the warmongers and paedophiles of the BBC.

I'm looking at this from the perspective of an Everton stadium being built and players coming in.

Newcastle and the Saudis cash; Arsenal with American cash - they all have their geo-political baggage.
‘Paedophiles of the BBC ‘
A truly Tory sentiment.

What am I apologising for?

I'm asking a question.

So we should not have any sponsorship, from any country that has started a war then? That rules almost everyone out I'm afraid.
What a ridiculous statement , entirely devoid of a shred of morality.
In any case , regardless of our opinions , Everton will be unable to benefit from any further injections of funds from USM or any other source of similar provenance, while Russian forces are in Ukraine.
Which means that Moshiri ,whose personal wealth is entirely dependent on his close association with Usmanov , will have to use his accountancy skills to find alternative revenue streams free from Russian provenance.
It may be time for him to sell up.
Once again we are in a mess both on and off the pitch.

It’s not just being his ‘mate’ though is it?
He is an important and powerful supporter and close ally of Putin and his government.
A government that is currently invading a major European country and pushing the world to the brink of war.
Everton Football Club should never be associated with acts of military oppression.
This country did it for centuries.

A large amount of money but still nothing that directly means the stadium won't go through like the doom mongers want us to believe.

Have you noticed that a country is under attack, people are dying and traumatised? Who gives a flying one if we get a new stadium to watch football? We have become a morally bankrupt nation beyond doubt. The west cares about supplies and money. It should be in Ukraine facing the [Poor language removed] down. His own people would remove him.

Don't care all things considered.

Why is it ridiculous to ask the question? And how is it devoid of morality to ask, if the same standards of morality are applied to all war mongering nations, or only certain ones?

As for the rest of it, there is lots of conjecture there. Maybe all of what you say is true.

Or maybe the world sees sense and works for a fair solution to this mess where peace can be found? Or maybe Moshiri, Usmanov and others have squirelled away lots of resources, to states such as China who are happy to engage with those with entrepreneurial skills?

Who knows.

At present, there is no injunction from USM in this country, so we ca benefit from USM funds. I have no idea how long for though. It's funny that Saudi are bombing Yemen but no injunction on their direct investment fund.

Maybe that comparison will also be considered "devoid of any morality" or however you phrased it, to perhaps suggest the situation is a little more complex. Or ask someone to explain their rational.

We are not associated with military oppression.

What utter nonsense.

Because we happen to be sponsored, by a business that happens to be based in Russia does not make us in any way responsible.

In the same way LFC, with a sponsor from a country with a far worse record on wars, are not responsible for the crimes of the US state.

Are all the teams in receipt of CL sponsorship from Gazprom also associated with it? Or just us?

We really have to be in the anti-sanctions camp looking at this from a purely football finance perspective.

I know I am.

The point is, the anti-sanctions camp is the one that actually gets to a peaceful solution which saves lives.

Theres needs to be constructive dialogue now. Not a witch hunt singling out businesses on the basis of where they may be head quartered.

That Yanis fella put it right earlier on today. The only solution for this peacefully, is for the US/Russia to come to an agreement. Russian troops to go, in exchange for a guarantee of Ukrainian independence. As he stated, everything else is war mongering and needs to stop.

Spot on.
