Unai Emery

Unless you're at Madrid or Barca there is not the big money at the Spanish clubs. And transfers are usually handled by the President and/or Director of Football so the manager is hemmed in giving rise to things like Rafael's famous comment at Valencia: "I wanted a lamp but they got me a sofa". Or similar. Don't know if that was the case at Sevilla, but he would be the man I would entrust my dodgy-earned millions if I were Moshiri.

Emery is a winner. A great signing. He's already beaten LFC more this season as RM did in three..

Emery seems to be able to work a sofa into a lamp. Sevilla is selling players left and right and he seems to be able to steady through it.

Now that Simeone has short hair, it appears Emery has the greasiest hair in Europe. Just tell him that his contract will include a lifetime supply of

and get him in here.

For the last 10 years, the top8(CL+UEL) La Liga teams have been winning against the top8(CL+UEL) Premier League teams. Why do you think it would be different for the other 12 teams?
If La liga is 3 team league, then the Premier League should be a 0 team league.

The sky sports brainwashing is working perfectly.

It isn't that far apart over the past 10 years which conveniently leaves out liverpool in 2005. Barca has won a bunch but English teams have dominated in the group stage against the other Spanish teams besides Real and Barca. Sevilla and Athletico have done well in Europa but so have English teams.

Is rice lad.

Go and get it in Summerfield then.

Look, stop stirring things up or I am going to report this to the mods.

Back to the topic now I am not going to waste more time on your fellowship too.

Emery is a proven winner. 3 Europa League winners in 3 years. A sensible appointment.

I've been doing some reading up on Unai Emery and his time on Valencia, the fans thought the club had potential to break the strangle hold that Barca/Real Madrid had on the La Liga. Whilst in charge of the club Emery finished 5th, 3rd and then 3rd again despite constantly losing their best players. (Valencia finished 5th and 8th the following years after and still haven't finished 3rd or higher since he left.)

Interesting enough the Valencia fans felt the club constantly underperformed in cup competitions under Emery. He must've taken this criticism onboard at Sevilla winning three Europa leagues cups in a row. The also took Barca to extra time in the Copa Del Rey today, just four days after they won the Europa League.

He ended up resigning from Valencia, it seemed pretty neutral between the club, fans and Emery that he'd done very well in his time at the club and put them into a very good feeling. I'm hoping he's felt he's now down all he can at Sevilla and wants to come here.

I definitely want to get Emery in, but to play devil's advocate, couldn't the argument be made that if Emery hasn't been making transfer decisions himself that he wouldn't have the experience to be trusted with a large transfer fund? If the players being bought or sold, whether rightly or wrongly, were done so by a director of football, would Emery know how to best handle building an Everton squad to move us forward? Or would we say his managerial abilities negate the need for shrewdness in the transfer market?

Well its heavily rumoured we are looking for a Director of Football.
