United.. a clear victim of their own hype

Most of the United players didnt turn up, Not 1 United player stood out in my eyes, they all looked awful, which is a shock, because they have looked unbeatable recently.

I wouldn't say that I'm dismissing them. I'm just not giving them that much credit.

I do think they played better player for player (especially Puyol...what a match!!) but I thought United were just not themselves.

United have expensive players who fail to show up on the biggest occasions.

Wayne Rooney, most overrated player in football history. Sure he looked like he'd eventually be world-class at age 17 but he barely looks better now. A hard worker but nowhere near world class. Messi - Iniesta - Xavi: these are world-class players. Wayne Rooney is not. Was the worst player on the pitch in last year's final and average again today, although the whole United team were beside Ronaldo who did fairly well.

While the Barcelona team is full of world beaters, the United team has its share of average players. Oshea? Ji-Sung Park? 35-year-old Giggs? You have to play your best team and avoid playing favorites.

United need better midfielders. I fear Liverpool have a great shot at winning the league next year the way they've played these past few months.

God how I loved to watch that greasy diving [Poor language removed] Ronaldo lose yesterday. Typical for him was when he discovered that he won't get the ball he simply ran into a Barca defender (e.g. Toure) and let himself fall down to claim for a foul. Fortunately this dirty trick only worked once when Toure received a yellow card which he did not deserve, but in the 2nd half the ref made out Ronaldo being an imposter and showed him the yellow card.

MoanU - the most overrated team in the world apart from Milan...

Dave I used the phrased " Rumbled " in the context of the media having built them up to the point of them simply having to turn up to win . Two things happened last night . Like has been already said on here by some Fergie was caught out by his shocking midfeild game plan . Rooney was asked to play a role that largely made him redundant as an attacking option and Ronaldo either chose or was instructed to test the wrong full back leaving a stand in defender void of pace to have a largely trouble free night .

No one is slighting what Manchester United have achieved in this country but they are not and never where the best team in Europe . Last night the frankly pathetic Oliver Read from the mirrior was probably having the re-write the utter s***e he has the cheek prints in his collum . His tongue will have to be surgically removed from Taggarts arse . It was was a slap in the face for all those know it all scribes that infest the British media

You know why they were not themselves ? Because they were not allowed to be ! That my friend is part of the game pure and simple . Its all part of the game plan . They frustrated United in midfield that in turn defeated united hearts and made great players redundant . Can people not see this ? I really should be a manager and have toccy as my assistant . Goat as the kit man .

Was Gary Neville injured?

Funny thing I thought after the game was…Gary Neville is that past it he's not to be even on the bench against Barcalona…but he's good enough to get an England call up and Baines isnt?

I don’t think they were rumbled, they just wanted to go toe to toe with Barca and didn’t perform because of the poor midfield choice.
Unlike Chelsea (or United last year) I don’t think Taggart wanted to just sit back, soak everything up, then hit on the break - they wanted to pass, move and out think Barca and it didn’t happen.
Well done I say. Sorts who is the best team overall rather than just the best team on the day.

He worried far too much about Barca to be honest, he was trying to hard to stop them instead of concentrating on there own game. Barca on the other hand play one way, they know exactly what to do and concentrate on themselves.

Man utd haven't had a balanced side all season, does anyone really know there strongest eleven? I don't and I'm not sure Ferguson does. It's cost them in the big games.

Fergie the master got out thought by Pep the novice. I bet he went home and hammered his Cat. And then hopefully Ronaldo.

I did find it funny that arle Swan Ron just seemed so determined to an out-do Messi and be the best player of the park by taking some outlandish shots. It just seemed to me he wanted to can get the back pages and the "stunning, Ronaldo world class strike stinks Barca. Ronaldo best player in the world, official" bollocks his ego needs on a daily basis, and totally forgot to play for the team.

Messi on the other hand, doesn’t accept all the media hype, played for the team, scored the goal that sealed it (smallest man on the park scoring a header I may add), and came out on top….

Ron does need a slap.

Ronaldo on his day is MAYBE the best player in the world, when he doesnt sulk and throw himself around on the floor hes amazing to watch, sadly his ego has now got so big that its a cert he will cry and moan his way around every game.

Last night, every time he got tackled he was crying and moaning, even when it was 100% clean.

Messi on the other hand just plays the game, he doesnt cry, he doesnt bitch, he just plays football, thats why Messi will be remebered as a player.

Ronaldo will become some sad circus act, if he isnt there already.
