Except it does matter. Holgate did really well from a first time ball from McCarthy which put him under pressure. Just because Holgate pulled a great pass out of it doesn't mean that it wasn't bad play from McCarthy to begin with.
So what was the excuse for the majority of the last two years where he's been the sullen ping-pong shins player we're seeing tonight?
He has no technique, so why we're asking him to "do a Heskey" is absolutely beyond me. It's nothing to do with fitness.
