Guus Hiddink slams FA's fixture scheduling as Chelsea face trip to Everton three days after Champions League clash PSG

Guus Hiddink has become the latest manager to criticise the FA’s scheduling of televised cup ties, with Chelsea annoyed that they have to play their FA Cup quarter-final against Everton on a Saturday evening, just three days after playing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Chelsea manager Hiddink is frustrated as Chelsea were originally scheduled to play a Premier League game on the Sunday and had assumed their FA Cup tie would be on the same day.

But the BBC have chosen to move Chelsea trip to Everton as their prime time game at 5,30pm on the Saturday evening.

CHELSEA'S NEXT FIVE FIXTURES
Norwich (March 1)

Stoke (March 5)

PSG (March 9)

Everton (March 12)

West Ham (March 19)

‘We have a tight schedule with Norwich on Tuesday and then Stoke next weekend and then PSG. Then, surprisingly, the Everton FA Cup game was put on a Saturday instead of a Sunday.

‘Normally we would have played Liverpool in the Premier League that Sunday. I don't know who has decided that, all of a sudden, the kick off was Saturday afternoon.

‘It was astonishing that people could change the kick-off time. We have PSG on the Wednesday night. Hopefully it doesn't go into extra-time.

‘The players, not just Chelsea players, need at least two days recovery and a third day to start up a bit when the intensity of the league is like this. The medical people at the clubs and FA and the Premier League should make this known.

Hiddink admitted that he had considerable sympathy for Manuel Pellegrini, who played a weakened side against Chelsea last weekend because TV demands meant City had to play on Sunday afternoon and then travel to Dynamo Kiev and play the Capital One Cup final today.

Chelsea were the beneficiaries last weekend, beating City 5-1 but Hiddink said: ‘We have to protect the players as well. Every club and the FA have medical departments. The doctors should stand up and say: “FA, TV, whoever: Hey!”’

All Chelsea have to do is turn up and put in a professional performance. They might go a goal or two down, but they'll ultimately win because we're a 'kin joke.

Besic has played CB before, by the way. In fact I think he only started starting at DM when he came here.

Be my first home game of the season this.
And mine, first year without a season ticket. Only managed 3 aways this season and have seen us self combust from winning positions (Bournemouth, Norwich and city cup) in all. Omens not looking good.Give us a win Everton.

I am tempted to offer to buy your ticket of you mate! Not that I am superstitious!

Lose this game and he's got to go now instead of summer.

Even after whats happened this season can't see the new majority shareholder sacking him until summer even if we crash out next week - (probably) won't want to look too ruthless - he'll just give Bobby enough rope to hang himself for the rest of the season and make his departure a mere formality.

I think he has had sufficient rope, don't hold out much hope against Chelsea.

Can I just say a massive  at Watford getting 9,000 tickets for Arsenal in the cup if they get past Hull.

Remember the massive kick off when we requested 9,000?

Either way.... Come on Everton! Do this and save our season.
