I rewatched it not that long ago (my third viewing) as I wanted to watch again before The Penguin. I didn’t hate it but had some issues. I thought Dano was way over the top. I like Pattinson as Batman but really didn’t like him as Bruce Wayne. Came across as a mopey emo teenager who treated Alfred like trash. Serkis was very good though.

It looks fantastic but I just felt it was a bit too much style over substance. Hopefully the sequel will be better and the fact they are pushing it back to get the script right could be a positive. Often though it is a bad sign if they are having to scramble to get a workable script.

I liked the Rorshach style commentary from him bringing alive his year one (or two?) diary ….its a grungy Batman but I think it worked and brought a different aesthetic to Batman on film. I like the Riddler concept as a serial killer, but wasn’t convinced on the movies realisation of him.

Was point when I thought everything other than Lock Stock he was in was garbage, but like fine wine, his films gets better with age

Haven’t seen it, but Better Man, the one about Robbie Williams as a CGI monkey, is bombing at the box office.

What peaked my interest was the $110 million budget, plus $25m for paramount to acquire the rights to the story.

Once you throw in marketing costs (usually about the production budget again), that movie cost the studio $245m. Can’t believe anyone thought they were making their money back on that.
