I have always liked Torres, but he did not quite do it today, but I am going to give him a break because BB always has used Feilhaber or Clark paired with his son, so to throw him into a game like that is not really fair. I have actually never seen him play but a few moments in center with son.
Random thoughts. I thought that the Slovenia coach out coached BB in the first half in that his team came out wanting the win, when I think that BB thought that they would bunker in and allow them possession, which he did not. I think that it confused the US's game plan.
The second half was when BB out coached the Slovenia coach with his subs. I thought that Edu, until the last goal, and it was a goal, lost the ball with lazy passes and poor play. He did deserve the goal and the US team deserved the win, although had they played better the first half them it would have been a sidenote to the game, not the howler of a poor decision and decisions that it became.
LD stood up tall today and, I am not sure why he is not the captain of the team, which he is in actuality. He put the team on his back and got them back into the match.
I will still take Howard over most goalies in the WC. He would not have backed away when Donovan hit that goal.
Altidore had better moments the second half and is developing into a force. He uses his body well and draws a lot of fouls and totally frustrates the other team. I would at this point take the forwards that the US has right now over Englands, which I would never have said prior to their game against Algeria.
Bradley is better in an offensive mid position, and again delievered his dad a goal for fathers day.
Dolu is superb at defense and certainly has upped his status as well as Demerit. Gooch is not yet match fit, and Bocanegra is solid but has spells of uncertain play.
