Costa Rica plays the worst football of anyone in CONCACAF. They have 11 goals in 13 qualifying matches. I am very confident they will not win by 6 goals on Wednesday.

Hoping for a kind draw Friday. No group of death please.

Don't fancy being in a group with a Pot 1 team and Germany

We're currently ranked 13th, so wouldn't that mean we'll be in Pot 2 with Germany and can't possibly get drawn in the same group as them?

Group A with Qatar as the Pot 1 team is the Golden Ticket in this draw.
Yeah, think you have that right. In order of preference of the seeded teams...Would prefer Qatar, Portugal (or if they lose whoever slots in), Argentina, England, Brazil, Belgium, France, and Spain...Really outside of Qatar it's not pretty, but Belgium, France, and Spain are awful matchups for different reasons.

Thanks! Didn't realize we were that high, thought we'd be around 20 but nations league/gold cup must have boosted us.

I would say they're awful matchups for the same reason - because our possession numbers will look downright Evertonian against all three. The mechanisms by which each wins are different, but it starts with having the ball. Spain is probably the most problematic, as you point out, because we're just not good enough defensively to execute Italy's winning game plan against them.
