We can't get the Kiwis because they play Costa Rica and the draw is before we know who wins.

Wales aren't particularly good. Obviously they have Bale but I'm not scared of him like I'm not scared of Lewandowski cause Poland is bad too.

Old stars look really old in league play. But in a short tourney w/ ample rest a bunch of old guys have done well in the WC. Wouldn't shock me if Bale has a great WC if Wales make it.

Honestly I think we are in for a rude awakening come WC time. US gonna have to pray for an easy draw. Its a joke that Mexico and the US are pot 2 teams there is no way that either squad deserves their ranking (no 12 and no 13). There are arguably 8-10 African teams that could have gotten top 3 in CONCACAF.

The thing about the African teams is that they don't get together nearly as often as the better funded or locally based squads. It is why I'm worried about Senegal who are on the second cycle with the same core. Algeria are similar. Ghana and Cameroon are not at that same level. Tunisia stink. They don't have nearly the same level of talent. And frankly we have better players than all aside from Senegal with a few exceptions.

Honestly aside from Ecuador and Peru no one in Pot 4 would strike me as a team the US shouldn't beat. Pot 3 is harder but still I'd be disappointed if the US couldn't get out of the group. There isn't really group of death potential.

I think that's European bias. I definitely believe both Mexico and USA are better than the likes of Denmark, Switzerland, Uruguay and even Netherlands. Only Germany are definitely better than US/Mexico and probably Croatia too.

That’s not going to be the state of play at this WC since they have to shoehorn it into November/December. The PL only goes on hiatus on 14 Nov, a week prior to the tournament kicking off, and is going to get all the way to Matchday 16 before doing so. Normally teams don’t play their 16th match until mid-December. None of the European based players are going to be anything resembling well rested for this tournament.

I think I'd have to agree with this. Wouldn't mind Switzerland either as we never seem to lose to them

You’re not wrong. Pieces are there for the US but our manager is a question mark and the players are still pretty young. This is a dress rehearsal for 2026. At least that’s how I’m looking at it.

Mexico at the moment are one of the worst versions of themselves I’ve ever seen.

I'm just not sure it matters all that much. Even a perceived group of death, say England, Germany, Senegal and Peru, would still have the two top teams as huge favorites. The draw is mostly about which pot 3 and 4 teams get screwed imo.
