coulda would shoulda. had our chances, didn't bury them. Lukaku buried us.

so proud of our CONCACAFFY MLS scrubs.

brace yourself, Russia, the Yanks are coming.

Tell you what, I'd take a team of proper athletes who (despite their limited technical ability) will give their all to the last second over a side full of overpaid, overrated posers with poor attitudes and discipline any day.

Well in yanks. #USA

You pretty much summed up why I love this team so much... and, to a certain extent, Everton "plucky lids punching above their weight" as well.

NEA about our hoops "dream team", but will agonize over this squad of scrubs.

You make a good point actually. The dogs of war are behind us and Im not sorry about that. But even with some incredibly talented footballers, we (Everton) have this sort of rag tag feel and we still stick it to the big boys. I'll be sad to lose that and the mountain of trophies will be a scant concilation.
Anyway, very little you Americans can do apart from take enormous pride from that. Every games been a thriller and if that doesnt capture the nations imagination (which I thibk it has) then nothing will....

National holiday in Canada today, so probably not. Should be an national holiday in the US. My boss at least mentioned that he was going to let everyone out at 3:30...I had already taken the time off however.

HAPPY CANADA DAY

If the mighty USMNT ever actually become a mighty team, it will be quite disappointing

If this team had one true world class superstar with the same mentality as the others, I'm not sure we could be beat.

What's great about soccer (football) in general is the god damn emotion of it all. The US and Everton both have the power to bring me to tears. The passion surrounding this game is beyond compare. As an American, I grew up loving all sports. Football, basketball, baseball...I follow them all, but despite me being a Green Bay Packers fan, I'll never get the same feeling watching them win or lose as I do watching the US and Everton play. It's the passion that makes the game great, and when the players demonstrate the passion and desire the US did today, you can't help but feel proud, and as an American, you identify some sort of connection with the team. Never give up, never say die. No other game can capture an entire nation like this, and that's why it will continue to grow. I'm excited to follow this team for the next four years into Russia, and I'm excited to see what we can do. When we have the talent to match our desire, it's going to be immense. We're not too far away.

had a decent night, well and truly drunk.

Any pics of Mirallas and Howard? Cheers. Unlucky Yanks, again.

Proud.

I've had a bit of time to reflect (and actually got a bit of work done), and I am massively proud of our boys. We had no business being in that game, but Tim Howard just played otherworldly. Ochoa vs Brazil was crazy good...but Howard, OUR Howard just put on a keeping performance for all time. Any other day, that could have easily been 5-0, but Howard was just incredible. I only wish we could have nicked that equalizer to see pens (how about that set piece!)...and to see the 'what if' of all of it.

Oh well. This tournament again shows that we can compete with anyone on the biggest stage. Even when we are playing against a far superior opponent in terms of technical ability, somehow, some way, we find a way to make a game of it. Individually, we are still miles behind the top European and South American nations, but I think we saw glimpses with Green and especially Yedlin today, that we have quality coming through. Being from Seattle, I'm especially proud of Yedlin...I was worried that the stage would be too big for him, but cool as you like, he came in today because of an injury and looked as good (if not better) than he does in a Seattle Sounders shirt.

Anyway...getting to TL;DR length here. Proud of them boys...Tim Howard just made another save I think...
