So, the ref gave the pen for Maguires pull, VAR intervened to prove Maguires pull was not sufficient, reverse on field decision.

Ref did not give the pen for the De Ligt pull; which was the actual penalty. VAR deems the ref not giving a penalty for De Ligt was not clear and obvious so not enough to challenge the ref not giving it. Hence why the VAR screens focus was only on Maguire angles.

Got it. Phew. Was worried we’d been cheated.

That's the reasoning isn't it? It's absolutely mental.

This has been overturned because it's against Utd in the last minute. They're happy to sack off their own protocols to justify it.

It has it's place. It works in rugby etc. Why it doesn't work in PL...? We all know the unpleasant answer to that.

It will never work in football purely down to the money at stake.
