Molde boss Solskjaer admits Everton, Man Utd target Forren in transfer talks

Molde coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits Vegard Forren is in talks to move away.

Forren has been linked with Manchester United and Everton this season.

"Vegard did not travel to the team meeting, because we are in the final stage of talks with a club," Solskjaer told Romsdals Budstikke.

"It is possible that Vegard will travel for a medical and to negotiate a contract.

"As the national team travel on Thursday morning, we might have to rush this through."

When asked about which club Forren could be joining, Solskjaer added: "It is not quite finished yet, so I will not comment further.

"But he is very close to a move.

We can't afford to spend money on someone Lescott's age imo.
I don't know how much Lescott would cost. It might be too much (hell one million is probably prohibitively expensive for us) however if we had Lescott instead of Heitinga where are we in the table right now? Has to be a little better right? One or two more clean sheets? A little better is third or fourth.

Not to be clichéd but the future is now. We need players who make us better now. Not four years from now. Now now. We need players in the same class (or close to it) as Fellaini and Baines right now. If we buy a new Baines (who is in his early 20's) that's great for five years from now but we'll (if we're lucky -- it's easier said than done) end up in the same place we are now (close but no cigar). I'm not as worried about securing sixth place in 18/19 as I am in securing fourth in 12/13.

We can buy younger in the summer with CL money or Fellaini money (we will have one or the other). Times like these really cry out for a smart, quick-acting board who can make some moves ... uh-oh. We can afford to "mortgage our future" right now -- people always use it as a negative but I got a mortgage and I got a nice house. I live in it. It's great. I didn't "do a Leeds" because I knew I could afford it. We can afford it right now (assuming the banks are game ... which they probably aren't ... good grief we're relying on banks and Bill Kenwright ... ugh).

Norwegian media writes that an transfer offer from an English club has been accepted. A lot of the people commenting it says it's official that he's an Everton player, but that's BS. Would love it though, it would make Everton matches more often broadcasted on TV in Norway.

In the article Everton aren't even mentioned, though. Newcastle, Tottenham, QPR, Fulham, Southampton og Reading are the clubs he's being linked to.

Heitinga is 29..I'd say CB's reach their peak at the age of 28 but he has had a horror season for some reason or other. I think coming off the back of the Euros where he and his Dutch team were dreadful hasn't helped him either.

Vegard Forren at 24 would be a good deal for us. I know Norwegian football isn't the pinnacle of football but he was an integral part of the reason Molde won back to back titles and he has played well in the Internationals when called upon. Again, i've only seen him play around 10 times (along with Eikrem who looks a player) however for a direct replacement to Heitinga (with profit i'd wager) he'd be an excellent acquisition.
