Villa Request Everton Postponement

If villa keep having games postponed, it will give them an advantage in a way of knowing what they need to do as in how much the win will push them up in games they have in hand [if they win them off course], and then no one knows over the following weeks or months if they will have any more called off-it could be middle of feb very earliest we can get this game played if called off
Games in hand aren't always an advantage !

It will be cancelled, City set the precedent. I don't understand all the negativity towards teams that have had a covid outbreak, we are in the middle of a pandemic ffs. It could easily be us next week. Think about all of the squad players, coaches and their family members, then include all the staff at the training ground and match day, that's a lot of people to control.

They only way this game goes ahead is if they were playing the RS, Utd, City, Spurs or Chelsea.

They hold so much sway with the premier league but in our case the game will get postponed.

Why wasn’t their cup tie with the scum not postponed ?

Yeah in theory it would but they have a bigger problem than us with more games in hand, even if plenty of midweeks to rearrange, and everyone knows you can pick up crucial injuries with so many fixtures back to back.

I think they'll be ok as not in Europe etc etc but do have a few in hand on most teams

I’m not too fussed on the outcome either way, but it isn’t the same situation as the City fixture IMO. City had an outbreak and were still getting positive test results the day of the game, so it was obviously spreading through their squad and couldn’t be kept on top of who had been in contact with who.

Villa have had a week to isolate those who have it, and keep testing. If they’re still getting rising case numbers the days leading up to the game, then fair to enough.

If teams can safely put out 14 players, it should be played. Just like Villa did in the FA Cup.

If they can't, reschedule.

Villa already have 3 games in hand on some teams as it is.

Too many ifs and buts with shocking lack of clarity from the league - the reasoning being put forward here is lack of meaningful preparation. Define meaningful...

It’s been explained several times, the 4th round of the cup is a week on Saturday, they had no way of rescheduling before that because of it.

I don't think you get the benefit with such a late cancellation, you have done your light session the day before and need to still manage that load catch-up before normal.

Where the benefit was seen was City running the absolute legs of chelsea two days later. Any PL manager offered to postpone a fixture during the entire season would have picked that one; it was all a bit too convenient

Lets also not forget, City could've planned to apply for postponement in the days prior, meaning they doubled their prep time for Chelsea and optimised their training regimes to suit.

There is a reason that the FA wont give us the details of the decisions for postponement.
